They want him to fail. I'm watching cbs right now. It's just one anti trump story after another.

Nothing is more important to me than a prosperous USA. It helps everyone. This is a bad question because Trump failing doesn't prevent a prosperous USA. I don't want Trump to fail. He's taking care of it all on his own. I was hoping that his act during the primary and general election was just that, an act, and that once he got in the office he would act like someone who respects the office.
Have you been on this board for the past 8 years? Have you seen Fox News any over the past 8 years? The Obama hate from the right was just as vicious as anything we are seeing toward Trump. Most media outlets are more liberal, especially if you look at their editorial board, but if you are going to act like Trump is being attacked every time there is a news story that makes him look bad then you are going to start sounding like the boy who cried wolf. The press is supposed to question the Presidents actions. Did they do it enough to Obama? Maybe not but that doesn't mean they shouldn't question Trump.
If Trump does something that helps the economy then i'll be happy to give him credit. I think there are many things he could do to help the economy. He's done alot so far helping bring some jobs back to the US. Do more of that.
He's new to politics and is making some rookie mistakes because of it. Will he learn from his mistakes? That's where I'm worried. I dont think he's wired to ever think he makes mistakes and I'm not sure he has someone close to him that he trusts to tell him when he's acting like a clown. I would hope that someone in his inner circle would have told him by now to double check his "facts" before shitposting on Twitter. And he's yet to have press conference, interview, or live, unscripted, appearance where he didn't come across as a dunce. It's embarrassing

How would I generally define prosperous? Looking on a macro-level (obviously), I define it mostly along the line of economy & jobs. As it relates to jobs, I'm not talking about a disproportionate number of "McJobs" at $10-12 bucks per hour, either. I want to see a different mix of jobs than we saw under Obama. More construction, manufacturing, energy type jobs as opposed to the mostly low-paying service sector jobs.
For me, that's the bigger part of the measuring stick. Because let's face it, we aren't going to agree on a lot of issues. For example, I want to see a conservative Supreme Court. I want to see the political correctness agenda die a horrible death. I want to see colleges & universities go back to emphasizing education, as opposed to using those institutions as a playground for both social engineering & social unrest. But, that's just me.

To be fair, how many ordinary Americans of modest means get selected to serve in cabinet positions?
I hear what you're saying, and I appreciate your input. From an economic standpoint, Trump is obviously as far away from the average American as it gets. But, I think I see some signs from Trump that he can connect with "regular people." For one thing, Trump doesn't talk or act like an elitist. For another thing, it isn't impossible for a rich man to connect with middle-class or even poor people. Robert F. Kennedy was rich from birth, but he truly cared about regular Americans.
I think Trump, for a super-rich guy, seems to be very comfortable around the type of people who elected him. His Cabinet isn't filled with everyday Americans, but when is the last time one was?

I was Obama's harshest critic on this board. I've said that many times.
But, here's the rub. It WAS my HONEST opinion. Obama had the chance to pleasantly surprise me, but he never did. I would've gladly given Obama credit for improving race relations, for example, but he purposely went in the other direction. From choosing Al Sharpton as his chief advisor on race relations, to purposely race-baiting every situation from the Cambridge Police to Trsyvon Martin to Michael Brown to Baltimore, the community agitator showed his true stripes every single time.
That man EARNED every critical thing I ever said about him, and I was totally vindicated in my assessment of him.
With regards to this thread, it's a hypothetical. We're only 2 months into Trump's presidency. So the relevant question is (For anti-Trumpers), do you want Trump to fail no matter what, or do you hope against hope that he succeeds?
It's a fair question.
