Pointe Coupee iisn't surprising. Very pro union and very pro Edwards. They live him, well the over 60 crowd does. Plus North Pointe Coupee has a high mminority rate. It will be a long time before it goes red if it ever does. They vote strictly on party alone. Don't care about the platforms. St. James doesn't surprise my either since it was one of the only parishes that Obama won. EBR ain't surprising either I thought whites were a minority in EBR?

Landrieu Carried 15 Parishes
And she's big enough to do it. Five on her left hip and Five on her right hip. The other Five on her shoulders. Not sure if she could carry them for more than 100 yards.

Yup, same thing for St Landry. I grew up in St Landry and have lived in Pointe Coupee the last 15 years. These knuckleheads would elect Edwards king if they could. But they all hate them some Obama. It's mind boggling

East Baton Rouge is hard for me to believe.

The only ones that make you scratch your head are Assumption and St. Bernard. Take a look at the rest of the parishes' demographics and you'll see why they went for Landrieu.

St. Bernard Parish.
2010 Census: 35,897 total
2000 Census: Total population: 67,229
There are way to many politicians on the payroll for a parish that size.
Jefferson Parish school board, 9 members. St. Bernard, 11 members.
Jefferson Parish, 8 Constables, 8 Justices of the Peace. St. Bernard 11 Constables, 11 Justices of the Peace.
Da Parish needs to trim some of the fat from the budget.

Since he stated that the parish was carried by Duke and now the demographics must have changed. He is implying that there must be more blacks in the parish (which there are not) and that blacks only vote for Landrieu.
Actually he didn't imply that at all, only race baiting types would see it that way.
That being said, what you just described is actually true. The demographics have changed in the parish, and Landrieu won the black vote by a landslide. I guess facts can be racist too.

For the record, she just barely carried Assumption Parish.

The parish where republicans run under the democrat ticket to get elected. You can't win in that parish unless you have a "D" next to your name so her winning there was a no brainer.

How is that racist? (Contorted into a stupid verb or not.)

St. Bernard Parish.
Landrieu won, yet, the parish is still solidly white (although less so than before Katrina) and they voted down every single tax renewal or new tax that was on the ballot.
You wouldn't think those two things would go together, but, I don't think Cassidy's message played well here. Fact is, you have a lot of poor whites here on goverment assistance, who Obamacare is probably helping. Plus, this place obviously got a lot of stuff from FEMA, and got a lot of loans forgiven, which Mary did help with.

This was the first time I voted for those positions (we moved here in 2012, and I only lived here for a few months before Katrina) and I was stunned at the number of positions.
11 school board members, and I only think 2 of the races were contested. In one race, the incumbent won, and in the other race, the challenger won, but the challenger is the wife of a very well known and well liked teacher down here. The other 9 races, the incumbents won without opposition, and some of them have been on the school board for 20-30 years.
At least most of the constable and JP races were contested.

I don't know what the real budgetary cost is of extra SB members, but it can't be much.
And my understanding of the JP and Constable positions is that they are totally self-funded by the fees they charge for services performed.

Baton Rouge is liberal.
Not to some of the folks who post on this board. Some of them think the city and parish are run from the pulpit of the First Baptist Church.
