It might be close to 20% black, but it's no where near 80% white. Hispanics are the fast growing population down there.

How is that racist

Since he stated that the parish was carried by Duke and now the demographics must have changed. He is implying that there must be more blacks in the parish (which there are not) and that blacks only vote for Landrieu. The fact is the people of the parish are very great flu for what Landrieu did for them after Katrina.

Eta: the parish is close to 80%white and 16% black

Is that not historically accurate?

So hispanics are switch hitters?

Hispanic if trending leftist

White-hispanic if trending conservative

She won St Benard 4758 to 4636 or by 122 votes. Seems like a pretty even demographic.

I knew Orleans was in the bank, and she trounced Cassidy there, but 14 others

She was actually down over 20k in New Orleans compared to her margin in 2008, 32K fewer total votes in Orleans. Add that to Jefferson Parish and she's dropped 40K votes from her margin 2008 election in just those two parishes.

In 2008, when Landrieu beat Republican John Kennedy -- 52 percent to 48 percent -- she won Jefferson Parish by 12,001 votes, compared to losing by 6,648 in 2014

since Katrina blacks have gone from about 10% to about 20% here. Landrieu carried down the road, with it being about equal in Arabi

REALLY???!!!

Must've been a large turnout north of Florida Blvd.

Also, some of these parishes are union strongholds.

East Baton Rouge Parish is now a lean-Democratic parish. All those voters that once made it Republican now live in Livingston and Ascension.

Cassidy won just over 47% in EBR, and if it was a non-EBR Republican, it would have been more like 43-45%.

If you really want a brain twister, West Baton Rouge narrowly went to Cassidy.

ETA:

Madison parish is about 62% black. Landrieu got 60% of the vote. No surprise

Tensas parish is about 55% black. Landrieu got about 55% of the vote. No surprise

Bieville parish is 56% white but a very poor parish. Landrieu got 51% of the vote. Somewhat of a surprise

Caddo parish is about split, 49% white, 48% black, about 2.5% hispanic. Landrieu got about 54% of the vote. Not too surprising.
