Wow. French has a pretty good military so I'm surprised they haven't purchased any c17s.

IF (and that is a very big and important if) any of the NATO countries get involved the I would think Obama's hand would be tied by the pressure.
Sadly they won't get involved without knowing in advance that the U.S. will take do the heavy lifting.

To stop Putin, all the U.S. and NATO have to do is convince Vladimir that they WILL act aggressively and decisively against his military if further intrusions into Ukraine occur. Putin knows his military wouldn't stand a chance against our combined forces and technology.

Putin is KGB. (There is no such thing as former KGB.) He knows and understands our and his military capabilities.

What he doesn't understand, but will fully exploit, is WHY Obama has turned the U.S. into such a p*ssy?

All the U.S. and NATO have to do is issue a joint communication that they would consider further military action against Ukraine as an attack on their own countries (in spite of Ukraine not being a member of NATO) and follow that by putting all of NATO's and our military on full alert, activate the full anti-Warsaw Pact preparation battle plans, bringing all missile emplacements and air power in Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Romania to full readiness with planes already launched and circling within those countries borders while the U.S. places its Mediterranean fleet on full combat readiness status including our full compliment of cruise missile launching submarines there (while keeping NONE of this readiness a secret from the Russians..hell, put it on CNN!!!) and Putin would stop dead in his tracks. But he has to be convinced we mean it.

Obama won't do it. He'll just be gravely concerned.

You certainly correct Russian. It does not have to come to a shooting war to get Putin to back down.

Exactly why he believes Russian expansion like its an imperial power back in the day.

We knew this day with him would come regardless who our president was after his little deal to give up being president for a few years

Correct.

Sadly it's self-proclaimed professional "international experts" like TigerPride who must be advising Obama and Kerry.

I lived and worked in Moscow for over 3 years. I had to encounter "former KGB" (oxymoron) while working there.

They are NOT buffoons. And Putin has measured Obama and found him lacking.

why don't we just offer US/NATO support to ensure no ethnic conflict/cleansing comes to the ethnic Russians ?

Exactly if the US and/or NATO put our big boy balls on then Putin would back down and let ukraine handle its own problems.

Obama won't do anything unless the other force his hand (like france did with libya) and unfortunately I think you are right the other NATO nations won't step up without us. So bend over ukraine you are about to get freaked in the arse by Russia with Obama and the US drawing useless lines in the sand.

No but Putin is putting troops there to protect his people.

Everyone is more worried about the Russians doing the cleansing.

i don't think there will be ethnic cleansing, but if this is the excuse putin will use to expand his power there

cut off the excuse at the head

he will say no

then the international community knows it's not about ethnic cleansing

No, we just give our stuff away voluntarily when the locals bitch.

See The Panama Canal or our huge base in the Philippines.

Sorry, but it looks like both the Dems and the GOP in this country don't have the balls to do what's right for our own national interests.

That is what I thought. Now if that did happen the Russia would and probably should help protect ethnic Russians. However Putin is putting troops there to control the crimea not just to protect the russian military bases.

And now you show your true intent. Another Bash obama thread.

shame on you.

If a Nato country is attacked. We will defend it. It's a simple as that.

So Obama is not to be bashed? He's like a lot of our recent Presidents, he doesn't have the stones to stand up to the Russians.

And this is a failure of both the Democratic and Republican parties.
