JBE got a lot of positive publicity the last couple of days with the storm press conferences.

Even though they raised more taxes than required to balance the budget, they have to by law place a certain amount into the rainy day fund, s certain amount into the pension fund to pay down debt, some to the coastal wetlands fund, and the rest to construction and maintenance of state buildings.

The current surplus (fy 19/20) is 100 million. That will be used to pay off FEMA and will go to numerous state agencies and pay off judgments.

And the beat goes on.

How disappointed are JBE and his minions that Hurricane barry has turned out be a big fat dud as #HurricaneBarely?

He still got a whole lot of free press coverage, which can only help him.

He'll certainly need it considering there has still not been one single poll where he has the necessary 50.1% to win outright in the first round and is in a dead heat if not outright tied with Abraham for the runoff.

I agree it's gonna be a tight race.

What percent of the state voting public do you think could give you the name of one of his opponents? I bet it’s less, possibly well less, than 50%.

That is true but there are plenty going to vote R regardless of the name.

I am ready for Rispone to start spending that money.

IMO, the only one with a real shot is Abraham, and the fact he's from north LA hurts his chances.

But then if you are going to be consistent, what has Edwards done?
Nothing sir, nothing.

Nothing, and Edwards was in the legislature for Bobby Jindal's entire tenure and voted for the six-out-of-eight of the latter's budgets. Edwards is part of the "Jindal Problem" as well.

You say this but the more likely scenario is a repeat of the 2014 senate race where everyone thought piggy mary landreiu had the edge was likely to win as nobody knew who Cassidy was but Mary ended up getting beat like a rent boy in the runoff with Cassidy winning by ten points.

Ralph Abraham has less than 50% name recognition in the polls and he's still competitive as hell against JBE to a point where it's tied for the runoff.

Even Rispone who has far less name recognition is only a few points behind JBE for the runoff.

And we still have only a few more months to go.

He just dropped money for two ads and they're running right now on TV and the internet.

They're basically calling him the Donald Trump of Louisiana.

The more JBE is visible the worse it is for him. Now Rispone and Abraham need to be WAY more visible. Given the national political climate I think either Rispone or Abraham will win in the run off. It’s Landrieu vs. Cassidy all over again. The tight race will be between Rispone and Abraham. Bye JBE.

For better or worse, our state governor’s election is a completely different animal than even year national elections. Our electorate has never come out in force to support generic party candidate ___ for governor. I don’t expect this go round to be any different.

In other words, these republican hopefuls need to get their faces in front of the people and do it fast.

And the state has horribly lagged the ‘Trump Economy.’

He would never do that as he's a party hack but he should be thanking his lucky stars that he only had a one year overlap with Obama.

Could you imagine Louisiana being forced to deal with both Obama and JBE, two tax and spend red tape loving hacks?

Say a prayer Louisiana thanking god that we only had to deal with that for one year.

That is going to be a major theme throughout the next few months and that's something Rispone and Abraham has been very consistent on messaging for a long time now.

It's precisely why JBE keeps fudging every economic stat he can find and keeps hosting fake summits with government contractors that are also donors to his campaign and calling it "economic development".

Does anyone believe that JBE can get attention of, let alone a commitment from major fortune 500 companies?

I heard a rumor that he literally drove all the way to Houston to beg the CEO of a company that relocated to Houston, even had the meeting in his black suburban in the parking lot.
