I'm curious to see if Joe Citizen and Jane Housewife are as enamored by Benghazi as the posters here are.
No one cared about Watergate for a long time either. It was known that there was a White House connection to the break-in almost 5 months before Nixon won 49 states on his way to a runaway reelection in a year when the Dems rolled to big majorities in both the House and Senate. It wasn't until the Select Committee on Watergate began its work six months after the election (11 months after the break-in was publicly connected to the Committee to Re-elect the President) that Joe Citizen and Jane Housewife started to really pay close attention. Watergate started out as a small issue and was like an onion having it layers peeled back one by one. One letter, one "minor" player's testimony leading to another and then another. Drip, drip, drip. Without that Select Committee, Nixon would have finished out his Presidency shuckin', jivin' and smirkin' into retirement. That Committee, by the way, took 13 long months to issue its final report.

Tell me... what did Obama break into? What crime did Obama commit?

I appreciate the historical context. I was not even a thought in my parents' mind when that was happening.
Maybe there will be something to come of this. Sounds like the House has picked the right guy to find out.

Do you know why Nixon was forced to resign? He lied to the American people.
Obama is toast if held to the same standard.

mmm, that's not why he was forced to resign.

That was the catalyst.

Nixon did not break into the Watergate.

Obama is toast. No way Obama has the integrity to resign.

Bzzzt.... wrong again... not unusual for you.
Nixon attempted to cover up a CRIME committed by his own staff.
Where's the crime in the Benghazi affair?

Political prisoner!

No, the catalyst was Nixon being a conspirator to cover up the evidence of a burglary of the office of a political opponent.
That's much different than "lying to the American people".
Based on what we know to date, there is no crime committed re: Benghazi. Maybe some objectionable, callous behavior trying to put politics over the truth, but I've yet to see anyone substantiate criminal charges.
Show me some criminal charges and then show me Obama himself trying to thwart the investigation into those charges and then we're approaching Watergate territory.

Well, the Gowdy interview was as expected; he plans on getting ALL documents, and HE'LL decide which are to be made public and which aren't.
This will get very interesting.
If this man ever were to be Attorney General...only God knows what would happen. He is for real.
Refreshing.
O-M-G! Just heard McCain praise Gowdy...and say that "he is right out of the Lindsey Graham mold"!
Here we go.

I'll leave that to Trey Gowdy.

One of Nixon's articles of impeachment was solely based upon his failure to provide documents and tapes that had been subpoenaed. Only one of the three was directly related to the crime of the break-in.
The State Dept. has withheld a shitload of documents, more so than even the administration.
Benghazi is much more about before and after the attack, not the attack itself.
Hillary, Kennedy and Kerry have more to worry about than Obama. Obama basically stuck his head in the sand and took a "you handle this" approach to the entire matter.
