Sadly Memphis can be very rough city. Its very much a patchwork city, you will drive through a really nice neighborhood and a block later its a war zone. It can really be a dangerous place to live and frankly I wouldn't go to a lot of the city after dark.

I don't think anybody would be scared to squeeze it in that situation.
I'd be in a bind in that situation. Id only get 6 of them. Hopefully they'd turn tail after the first few.
That's where you need a high cap semi auto. That's not just self defense, that's combat.

Eta: This is horrible. Makes me furious. But this Kroger is not considered to be in a "rough" area by any means. It is one of the nicest Kroger stores in the city. Like another poster said, Memphis is patchwork.

That is really one of the biggest problems Memphis faces in revitalizing its neighborhoods; the patchwork nature of the city itself. I went into Memphis today and drove through some of the nicest looking areas you could ever want to see, gorgeous homes, well kept lawns, well to do families of all races.
Then two blocks later you are in an area that is run down and filled with trash and vacant buildings. Seeing something as wholesome as a rat scampering around would have cheered you up. Its understandable why so many families, black or white, have moved to the ever expanding suburbs to get away from the inner city blight in Memphis.

1. Media reprisal shouldn't deter someone from defending themselves
2. When people are throwing 20 pound pumpkins on someone's head, it goes beyond avoiding an "arse whooping". Those people are looking to seriously hurt someone.

You know everything would be twisted in the media. I don't want to be known internationally as the racist 36 year old man who shot some 14 year old kids because they were throwing vegetables at me. My family's lives and our livelihoods would be in peril. Could you imagine being known as the children of George Zimmerman? It would be a cross to bear. All the skewed and twisted information is out there forever on the internet. Who knows what afrocentric whack jobs are out there, in the viewing audience, who would want to hurt them. Who knows what doors are closed due to the negative publicity. This is the ugly truth.
