I know a guy that will argue that those white people should know better than to be out late at night by themselves. He also argues that it is racist to move to the suburbs or to avoid black neighborhoods.
White people are not racist for wanting to avoid neighborhoods where they are concerned that they will be targeted simply for existing. That is actually indicative of a pervasive problem of black racism, or at least a perception of it.
Every person who grew up in the south has at some point encountered white racism, but you'd have to have your head buried in the sand not to draw the conclusion after years of living here that black culture in the poorer urban areas has a very deep rooted cultural with racial prejudice. It's commonplace, it's tolerated, and it is almost never called out among liberals or other blacks.

Okay, watched the video. They were kicking that dude in the head after he was knocked out. WTF? I wouldn't have a problem shooting a kid for doing that. And where the frick did all these kids come from? Would it be racist to just shut the store down if you see 50 urban males walk in?

No, this thread is evidence that the draw of the issue is the desire to shoot us some black people.
You know, the police do investigate shite like this, and people go to jail for it. But really the key is that THIS ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN TO YOU. You're more likely to be hit by lightning.

It doesn't matter that it was in response to senseless violence, and no one suggested to "kill all black people," but to use deadly force when there is a mob of thugs rampant.
It doesn't matter that this is NOT an isolated incident.
Hell, it doesn't even matter that similar things have happened in LA in the near past. Or did you just forget the guy who got jumped at a gas station by a mob in Baton Rouge?
None of that shite matters. It is the thugs that are the real victims here, and if a white expresses a desire to defend themselves well then that is racist.

In a perfect world, there wouldn't be a double standard. Unfortunately, whites are second class citizens when it comes to this sort of stuff.
My angle is that you have to weigh the ramifications of action vs. inaction. If I do not fear for my life then I would not shoot somebody. It would have to be a very high level of fear in order to shoot a kid in a public space and to drag my family through all that. If my kids were there and were at risk of being targeted, then it would be a very unfortunate incident all around. I usually don't carry so that wouldn't have been an option. The only time I carry is when I am on the road and in unfamiliar cities - or if I go to New Orleans.
I am one of those people who instead opted for white flight. I know better than to go to a Kroger in the hood of a 60% black city at night. It would never happen to me. If my kids were working at the store, they wouldn't be carrying a gun because it is likely not permitted.
I'm guessing 90% of you don't carry guns around with you everywhere you go, either.
