I have never heard anyone say that we should legalize weed for opiate abuse.

you are that dense you're arguing this level of semantics? You can't buy alcohol or tobacco without an ID and being of age. You can't buy prescription drugs without a prescription.
But guess what? If you're 21 and have a prescription, you can buy alcohol, cigarettes, and Xanax all at one place. Which is what I stated.

cops can test for alcohol in your system easily. Weed they can't really test an impaired driver for that easily
and besides, if you ask a pothead if weed makes them drive worse they'll tell you that it doesn't affect their driving at all, which is more proof that marijuana makes you feel ten feet tall and bulletproof, more likely to engage in dangerous and criminal behavior that has dire effects on others
