Texas taxpayers sure would appreciate it. This isn’t cheap for Texas. Y’all are just lucky we are becoming more stubborn about this issue as the feds push back.

Greg has finally taken his role as Governor seriously. I like this bold Greg Abbot.

After being a decent but hedging governor for a while, Abbott has (just a note that I cycled through several phrases here that wouldn't have been appropriate ) become the man for the moment.

Didn’t he already lose this case at the Supreme Court?

No, they just overturned the injunction.

The case is still very much alive

No. The only thing lost was the razor wire.

Is Texas getting any meaningful support from other states?

I’ve seen much verbal support, but nothing concrete as of yet—which doesn’t mean it’s not happening, just that such backing hasn’t been made public.

I look for that to change as this imbroglio moves towards the obvious showdown Texas and the Biden Administration continue to inch towards daily.
I have zero doubt more states exist that are feeling unsettled by what’s going on than there are states supporting a renegade fedgov.

The latest rumblings are … DoJ is targeting Texas Guardsmen. If that happens, all current efforts at civility by Texas are likely to be off, as elected officials are duty bound to step in on behal of these men and women who are doing their jobs.

Well done! It is very clear the feds are in the wrong. I'm no lawyer but I can't imagine what rebuttal the feds could put forth. Now this is has been fully disclosed and put before the public, there is no question of who is right and who is wrong. Any further action by the feds would be a bad idea.

Don’t be surprised by it.

If there’s one thing I’ve learnt over the past several years it’s that there’s no shortage of folks who support the idea of themselves and their families living under an oppressive federal government.

The constitution. It gives the executive very broad and effectively supreme power over the borders, and the Court has consistently given the president vast power in that regard.

We've never quite gotten to a point where the executive is just refusing to exercise his powers to the detriment of the State to this degree.

So its gonna be interesting.

Money, guardsmen, joining the legal cases?

I'd rather LA guard sent to the border, than be sent to the ME.

And they have been sent to the ME in the past.

If Feds move forward with prosecuting even a single Texas Guardsman working the border, this situation may become unsalvageable. I have to think they not push that far in an election year.

Agreed.
Like I said, it’s just chatter at this point, but it’s something to watch.
It didn’t have to come to this point.

If DOJ wanted to kill this, they could nationalize the Texas NG and issue their own instructions about what to do.

But they don’t want to foot the bill for this nor take public responsibility for the mess.

Yes and no I mean it's clearly not the whole story and only abbots side so hard to know the exact specifics from this.

Good thing you aren't cause a lawyer somewhere will come up with a refutation. And it will lay out in clear terms why abbot is wrong.

You've heard one side of it....and are ready to run with it since it confirms your biases...

This isn't the end of it I can assure you that....
