Every post I have ever made I have always said the media exaggerates. Period. Right wing left wing breast and drumstick. It's not political, it's ratings. Y2k, SARS, GW, you name it, the media exaggerates.
The difference this time is the right wing echo chamber is trying to make this a political issue. One guy died and its all Obama's fault!
Last month it was that's stupid virus in the schools that was all Obama's fault.
Then there's ISIS all Obama's fault.
Kids immigrating Obama's fault.
Benghazi all Obama's fault.
It's like Pavlov's dog with you guys and you don't even realize how you're being used. It's actually quite comical.

Most are not 'panicking'. However, many are concerned.
The leader(a huge misnomer) of this country has failed to get out in front of this and establish a travel ban into and out of the affected areas of this terrible virous.
Now we have two Americans who are infected with this horrible virus. Hopefully there will be no more people in this country who will get infected.

From what I've seen, the liberals are largely playing the all is well card. Now, only some actually have logical reasons for claiming that. many are just blindly defending their elected leader, which is no better than conservatives making a big deal out of it to attack him.

Just casual observation, guys like Hannity, Rush, O'Reilly, Beck, etc. are talking like we're all going to die because Obama let ebola in while the MSNBC jokers are largely towing the all is well company lines. The republicans in congress are yelling for answers, and the republican nominees in the coming elections are playing it up for their benefit.

I suspect as you've better understood some of the idiotic things coming out of the CDC regarding healthcare capability and safety, you agree more often than not with the concerns.
But all that pertains to HC workers. The population at large is at far less risk. In terms of odds, an individual American would probably have greater odds of being struck by lightning . . . twice, than contracting Ebola. The risk of epidemic is virtually nonexistent.
If you perceive that as "flying off the handle" or asurob perceives it as "panicking", I don't know what to tell you.

I think people are excited in the way they get when something new and "dangerous" happens. Psychologically, it's a normal response to an unknown. An article in NYT today compared it to fear of a plane crash. Illogical but fascinating & terrifying in that we don't know what those last minutes are like and it has a gory end.
Panic is rushing the ERs with a cough or hoarding food & water while refusing to leave your house. It's removing all your money from the bank and selling all your stocks to buy gold bars.
Discussing new events and the series of missteps occurring is not panicking. I think those calling it panic are being a bit dramatic, themselves.
