quote:

The Special Operations Forces member who died on Thursday was killed by an improvised explosive device in the vicinity of Ayn Issa in northern Syria, United States military officials said.

“I am deeply saddened by the news on this Thanksgiving Day that one of our brave service members has been killed in Syria while protecting us from the evil of ISIL,” Defense Secretary Ash Carter said in a statement, using one of the names for the Islamic State. “It is a painful reminder of the dangers our men and women in uniform face around the world to keep us safe.”Though the Obama administration has sought to limit the number of American soldiers in the fight against the Islamic State, the death on Thursday demonstrates how volatile and deadly the campaign against the group is in Syria and Iraq. American service members have been killed in Iraq as well, and this month the United States acknowledged killing 119 civilians in Iraq and Syria since it began military operations against the Islamic State in 2014.

Sad news. I hope Trump will withdraw these men from this nightmare.

frick Ash Carter.

In February they will be Trump’s fault, so let's hope he does the right thing.

I hope Trump pulls out completely, only allows arms sales to non-ISIS.

But Trump ran on destroying ISIS, when it should be the problem of in order: Syria, Iraq, Iran, Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Gulf States, and Europe. All those groups before us.

Yeah I mostly agree. It's not my problem. I think all these politicians should go there and fix it.

Of course it´s not your problem, but it is the US´s. Start one, solve one.

Wait until Feb.

Everything that the media has been giving Obama a pass on for 8 years will all be Trump's fault.

Problem is you never solve a problem in the middle east without also creating one.

It's one giant gamblers fallacy

Sometimes you just lose.

Who is "the US" and how exactly do we "solve one"?

I will tell you that it is unlikely that you understand any of this well enough to convince me. That's not your fault. Just know that.

Trump needs to withdraw all military personel from foreign countries who are not paying us a handsome some for our presence there. The troops should then have the option to be discharged with pay or be sent to work with border security.

During that time we should invest all dollars to weaponose our military. Stop fighting all these foreign conflicts with shadow armies. Peace through strength.

We should disband our standing military. Who's going to invade us?

I would like a Democrat to explain why toppling Saddam was bad but toppling Assad is good.

I think that would be the equivalent of getting rid of minute men. I think a standing army is good for business. It almost cost us America as we know it without having an army to defend our declaration of freedom.

I am about to lose my mind over this

Going to say something one day that I am going to regret.

Extraction and consumption of crude oil.

Insertion in area, creation of problem.

ETA Sorry, exponential exacerbation of problem

I hear you. I have been really upset by these deaths as of late.

I will say this: I would rather regret saying something I shouldn't than regret not saying something I should.
