Functional English in bullet point form.

No problem in area with the US, until US began extracting oil. Major problem, anyway (the US was an ally of the UK, who held hegemony over area and problems previously).

Is this clear?

Agreed. It is not that these losses are unacceptable, they serve NO DAMN PURPOSE! We have no compelling reason to be in Syria. NONE!

That's exactly my sentiment. We all know people die, but usually we can just pretend that is matters when they die.

In this case, it's just impossible for me to fathom a meaning behind it. Pure waste and tragedy.

I think everyone is in agreement on this issue. Nonetheless, it´s not about Syria per se, but about their geopolitical location (Israel) and the area (crude oil).

All within distance of the Persian Gulf.

Hegemony (economic).

Yeah those are the implied reasons, but the waste is that none of this will positively effect those issues. I don't even accept those reasons as legitimate to begin with, so IMO this is a lose lose.

I´m in full agreement, I´m just providing the ´backdrop´, as some think we just landed there yesterday.

It´s very difficult to extract multiple strong and deep tentacles.

One of the few things I liked about Trump was his rhetoric on war. I don't know if he will fulfill even a small portion of that rhetoric, and Flynn being a part of his team affirms that notion to some degree.

We shall see.

I have a former business associate who left Syria many months ago when this shite began to flare, and he and his family were the dominant force in their industry there for decades (but they were not Muslim). Very sad.

Yes it's terrible. I have quite a few Muslim and Christian Syrian acquaintances and it's terrible seeing what happened to their property and businesses since this shite started.

Who all did fine under Assad as he kept the crazies in check, Obama and Clinton were building and supporting ISIS for their Gulf State Wahhabist handlers.

They took me to the village where Aramayan (not sure how that´s spelled) is still spoken, had some unbelievable seafood in Latakia, and visited their second office in Aleppo.

Lovely but sad memories.

Damascus was pretty cosmopolitan and different from the rest of the country, as well.

I´m speaking of 2005.

Amazing. I believe the us embassy in Syria was closed in 2006. Unfortunate because there is a lot of cool stuff to see there and the people are very kind for thr most part.

I don't get why we keep sending Americans to die in other countries that just do not have grave implications to the US.
