I'm with you. They do this and I'm off the train for good.

I fully support educational choice. FYI, millions of homeschooling families across the country pay state and local taxes and receive no tax breaks for not using public schools. Free money for the state!

If they want to cut 501(c)(3)s from the program I would be ok with that.

10 years is a pretty high hurdle. I wonder how many actually fulfill the obligation and take advantage of it.

My friend that is a dentist only had to complete 2 or 3 years I think.

That's not that I asked. They want to divert funding to school choice programs. That's your taxes paying for other's education.

Therefore, you cannot support that.

The application which presumably determines eligibility is set to be rolled out this year. No one has actually been forgiven under this program yet.

And the verification form isn't really due until the 120 months is up. However, the Dept. encourages early submission of the verification form so that you're "counted" as part of the program.

I think that's a similar program but different requirements.

I did the math. 10 years saves me about 80-100k off the life of the loan.

I took a non-profit job that pays 20k less yearly knowing this was available and was accepted into the program. I essentially break even when you factor in taxes and other variables.

Remove this program and I'm going to demand a 20k/year raise from my employer or go to a for-profit facility. Want to watch healthcare blow up? Do this

Hey man when the Reserve Component recruiters come around make an appointment with them. I think, not positive, but for a 4 year commitment to the reserves I think you can get up to 50k of student loans forgiven.
You would have to go to school for 4 or 5 months but do that right after you graduate. The weekend money helps when first getting started.

So just so we're clear. You must not support:

School Choice Funding
GI Bill
Any public education
Any public scholarship

I've heard that's a good route. I'm clerking at a similar firm to your's at the moment, really liking it.

I'd bet dollars to donuts she supports every increase Trump has campaigned for.

So just so we're clear: I support more of my own money in my own pocket, and less of it in someone else's. Kapish?

Budget documents obtained by The Washington Post paint a bleak picture for many federal education programs: The newspaper reported on Wednesday that President Trump’s administration plans to cut them by a total of $10.6 billion.

Of course. He does love the poorly educated, and he's determined to make the whole country that way.

I totally agree that the gov shouldn't bail anyone out but how many of you hypocrites are in favor of this yet still support and reap the benefits of the TOPS program. You people can go frick yourselves

Got it. I would be fine with abolishing taxes too.

So you are against all that is listed. You must also be against public police forces too since their salaries pay for their education, especially if they went to college.
