Does anyone care if the government shuts down?

Ovomit tried to make the shut downs as painful as possible, with the media highlighting the pain. I bet that the majority of people wouldn’t know that the government was shut down unless they were told it was shut down.
When the government is so big that it effects your daily life when it’s shut down, then you are too dependent on government or the government is too dam big. Remember a government that is big enough to give you everything is also big enough to take everything away.

I hope it does shut down, my paycheck doesn't come from the gov so I don't care

I welcome it. The only reason the MSM and politicians freak out about it is that people might discover how wasteful and unimportant the government actually is.

They don't do shite anyway.

I think the military should be exempt though.

The vast majority of Americans couldn't care less.

If it causes our Congress to actually get off their arse to do some work, I'm all for it.
Veiled threats barely work anymore.

I somewhat care since my salary is paid somewhat by the Government and Medicaid. But I know they will eventually do what they always do, sign a bill that gives us back pay for days lost.

If the media didn't report that a shutdown had commenced few would even notice.

Shut it down. The last time there was a shut down, the government was probably running at its most efficient.

I think nearly everyone supports the shutdown at this point.
Conservatives support smaller government and a shutdown exposes the current bloat (I.e. not really shutdown)
Democrats support the shutdown on the notion they are taking a stand for a cause they believe in.
Really the only group that may object are big government Republicans, but even that is a maybe.
The question soon to be asked is how long will the shutdown go on.

Does not impact my life. Shut it down, not a single vote will be changed by this.

I say we let it stay shut down until we save enough for our big beautiful wall

Shut it down. Very few people will even notice.

he only noticeable actions from a Shutdown are the national parks, museums, monuments, etc that are shut down.
I mean, it even says "non-essential government employees" will be furloughed...Why do we have non-essential employees in the federal government? If it isn't essential, it shouldn't be a part of the federal government.
The good news is that 95% of the 18k workers for the EPA get furloughed. Imagine that, 95% of the EPA is non-essential...
ETA: Dept of Ed furloughed 3980 of 4225 workers in the 2013 shutdown....Again, non-essential!!!
