Generally the contempt for the civil rights act is the federal oversight of redistricting. This usually results in a state having to jump through nonsensical geographic hoops to carve out a district that will almost assuredly produce a minority representative. There are some crazy arse districts out there. Look at AL7 and tell me that aint some shite. It goes from Selma to downtown Birmingham. By way of Tuscaloosa.

That would be the Voting Rights Act.

And Repubs like those gerrymandered districts because when you draw them, the remaining districts are whiter and more Republican.

You dispute that the acts had more Republican support than Democratic?

I could say the same for the past eight years of disregard for the Constitution of the United States and that is more than just a sense...governance by Executive Order...total disregard for civility much less the law

Can a white person have their Civil Rights violated?

This isn't a troll either I honestly want to know, because I can never recall a news story or heard of a legal case that stated someone's civil rights were violated and they were white.

I oppose certain provisions of the civil rights act because I feel it is an overreach of the government to force a private business to engage in commerce and/or employ anyone against their will. If they want to lose business or good employees, that should be their choice.

Personally, I would not put any bearing on the race/gender of a prospective employee or customer, nor would any good business owner.

ETA: I am not a Republican, but a Libertarian that happened to vote for Trump due to a need to reverse certain aspects of the political and social climate of the U.S.. Plus Johnson turned into a bitch of a man this cycle.
