Pundits alike on CNN, Fox and MSNBC all agree this country is still center right.

It doesn't need to be said a lot that this country will always run the frick away from extreme liberalism in the form of Elizabeth warren. The same goes for extreme conservatism and Rick santorum.

Nobody.

We'd be fricked either way. I'm shuddering right now at a nightmare matchup like that.

The froth versus the ug?
No one wins that.

I really think the people pushing Warren forget how shallow the public is. She looks old and she's more than a bit homely. There's only so much lighting and makeup can fix. And she's not in that fixable spectrum.

DS is actually so far left he's lost sight of center. Warren and Santorum are caricatures.

Warren trails Clinton by 38 points in Massachusetts primary polling.

LINK

But carry on, DS. Keep telling yourself that Americans are ready for an actual socialist to be president. She'd lose by more than 10 points.

Santorum make Huckabee look like a rational person. And I hate Huckabee. Santorum is a leaving, breathing personification of all that is wrong with the Republican Party. I say that as a conservative Evangelical.

Serious question: If the D's run with Warren, would the R's select Rand Paul or run with a much more conservative candidate?

I don't think it would happen, and am still worried about Rand becoming friendly with the establishment.

If the Dems run Warren, I don't think it matters who the Republicans run (Within certain boundaries, of course).

I think the R's would lose if they went with a Gingrich type. The safe bet for them would be Romney if Warren runs. That could be closer then one would think depending on the campaign / running mates.

I have a feeling Cuomo is going to jump into this race. He has the liberal credentials and access to big donors.

It's called politics. Why else is he risking his brand on someone like McConnell in Kentucky? He is expanding his credibility and influence across the party. I don't want him to be a strict libertarian with no real national security strategy. I know many people don't want America on the world stage influencing events but that's what a good president does.

Obama is a reactionary president on foreign policy. Then we almost dropped bombs on Assad which would have only helped ISIS. Sunni extremism is the real threat.

If HRC runs she'll be the D nominee and probably our next President. I doubt Rand can win as the R nominee, but if he does Hillary will beat him. A more moderate R would give her a tighter race.

If HRC doesn't run, I'm not sure Warren will but O'Malley and Cuomo will, plus many more.

Moderate R's have been nominated since 1988 and have largely failed. I think Rand is a very important player if the republican party is to move forward and "modernize". He is to the left of Hillary on drugs, foreign policy, police, and civil liberties. Sorry wfel, but I think you are absolutely wrong when you say the republicans need to trust the moderate establishment. Moderation does not win elections, bold ideas do. The democrats are much bolder than republicans when it comes to ideas, and it sells to the voters.

Rand has a clear ideology that people can trust, unlike Romney and McCain who were not even genuine conservatives.

Like I said, people that voted for Kerry because they did not like the patriotic act and the iraq war, but then decide to vote for Clinton in 2016 against Rand, are huge hypocrites. Rand is addressing issues that are important right now- surveillance, drug laws, police. Hillary represents the status quo on all of those issues.

Hillary will do well with hardcore democrats who are old (like yourself, wfel), but she offers nothing for young folks, people worried about militarization, and folks concerned about the drug war.

And she has a tin ear. She has made some pretty bad mistakes the past few months.

In a lot of ways, Rand is a moderate R. In which ways should he be moderate, iyo?

I'm to the point where I am looking at a candidate's character over their stance on issues. I want someone who cares more about the USA than their own political career.

I think Warren is someone who cares deeply about our country, and to a lesser extent Paul is as well.

I would be very pleased to see a match up between these two.
