re: CDC head slammed for blaming nurse infected with Ebola

We are only about 3 weeks out from midterms. You better believe that Obama and the Dems are concerned about how this Ebola outbreak could blow up in their face.
I hope this doesn't spread any further, like we all do, but Obama is playing Russian Roulette with regards to not issuing travel restrictions.

I honestly wonder if you just change your honest opinions to conform with those of Obama appointees. It's scary.

He needs to fricking go.
He is catching a lot of heat from his colleagues.
He's now trying to crawfish away from some of his earlier statements.
Trying to apologize for the "misinterpretation" of his blaming the nurse statement.
He is awful.

I laughed when he said that, then followed that up with a, "For example, she made an error removing her ppe." (Not an actual verbatim quote). He gave a couple "example onlys" but all of them were errors made by the nurse.

It's sad that this is at politicized.
This 26 year old woman will likely die doing her job trying to help and a high ranking official blames her?

I laughed in shock at the audacity.

I saw him parroting this crap on "Face The Nation" yesterday morning. He came off looking like a complete idiot.

Relative to Freiden's impudent comments, it's worth once again putting a human face to the situation

DALLAS – The Texas nurse who contracted Ebola while caring for the first person to die of the virus in the U.S. has been identified as 26-year-old Nina Pham.
Health officials have not released the nurse’s name, but Yahoo News identified Pham through public records and a state nursing database.
Then on Monday, Pham’s family confirmed her identity to USA Today, the publication reported. Pham, a critical care nurse at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas, is one of at least 50 people who cared for Thomas Eric Duncan, who died last Wednesday.
Pham has been in isolation since late Friday. The CDC confirmed her Ebola diagnosis on Sunday. It is the first time the deadly virus has ever been transmitted in the United States.
The Dallas resident is a 2010 graduate of Texas Christian University and has been a nurse since June 2010, according to state records.

Criticizing the nurse is absolutely abhorrent. I really, really can't believe that happened.

If the CDC hasn't released directives on how to handle this, then how can they blame anyone? The only way it's her fault is if she had been trained on caring for patients with similarly communicable diseases and she didn't follow protocol. That hasn't been proven yet.
As for blocking travel, that's a no-brainer. Ban all travel coming in from those countries except for medical personnel and even those would have to undergo testing and quarantine time.
Anything else is PC bullshite.

Seriously, the people who died in Katrina had plenty of warning to get out of the way. The deaths were not the responsibility of government. The first ebola death is hard to blame on the government, but any subsequent deaths may be the result of poor government decisions.
I pretty much agree with this assessment.

The latest update on this woman is that she is in stable condition. I believe she has a good chance to beat this.

In many cases, hospitals "post something on a bulletin board referring workers and nurses to the CDC guidelines. That is not how you drill and practice and become expert," she said.
What's the matter? Nurses can't read well?

quote:That is about as likely as Obama appearing at the podium tomorrow and admitting ISIS is his fault, CDC's immigration decisions were his fault, and Romney was right about Russia.

It did not happen.
Is that my best guess. Yep.
But you could bet your family on it.
Posted on 10/13/14 at 6:50 pm to NC_Tigah
So basically, even if she royally fricked up it wasn't really her fault.

That dog's going to be put down if it hasn't been already.
But seriously, American hospitals have been alerted to the possibility of Ebola and they should be able to handle infectious diseases. That means practices and drills. This hospital in particular claimed to have the proper facilities and training but obviously didn't. It's not the poor nurse's fault, it is definitely the hospital's.
The obvious answer would be certification of hospitals and health professionals through a national program but of course that would cause the R-Bots to bitch like hell if this president started it.

What is proper "Ebola protocol"? I've been in healthcare for 15 years and I've never seen any.
