How in the world does the GOP base their entire existence on fighting the ACA for 7 years and not have a consensus on how to replace it?

I too want to see an answer to this question.

Most in the GOP want it to remain for political benefit.

I quit the GOP effective immediately.

Translation: We actually want Obamacare to stay to please our corporate overlords, but wanted to make a play to our constituents that we "tried" to repeal it just so they don't get mad at us.

That's one possibility but it is a very remote possibility.

Another possibility which is the more likely possibility is that most of the GOP wanted to pass the bill now then amend it in the future before it is passed and goes into effect but just enough GOPers would have voted against it today to kill it.

All that means is now President Trump has only about 1 year and 9 months to work with the GOP to get enough votes to repeal and replace Obamacare and, in the meantime, the GOP and Dums can be blamed for Obamacare still being in effect.

The overwhelming majority of the Affordable Care Act came from the Bush administration and it can and will continue to evolve. Shoot, we can even change it's name.

Washington needs a major purge. Republicans, Democrats, they all need to go! All of them are in it together to line their pockets while putting American citizens down.

I have said it before. I'll say it again. ACA was the first step towards socialized medicine.

The next plan you see will take us closer to the goal where the greatest nation in the world covers the healthcare of all of its citizens.

Wtf are you talking about?
My God, no wonder people hate republicans.

They can't agree on the first bill and you think it's because they secretly want to keep Obamacare forever?

Socialized medicine will never be sufficient to take care of everyone's needs.

There clearly no alternative that has enough votes to move. Obamacare may be unpopular, but for some it's unpopular because it's not single-payer while for others it's unpopular because higher taxes on cap gains.

If there isn't enough consensus on the part of the AMERICAN PEOPLE regarding the direction of reform, the status quo will remain. Unless you ram something through Obama-style, which can cost you politically like the dems in 2010.

It isn't that "the GOP wants" ACA to stay. It's really just that fighting an unwinnable "good fight" is often good politics especially in the short-term.

2018 is going to be very difficult for the Republicans as many of their voters sent them to D.C. to kill the ACA.
Midwest is going right back to blue. What flipped them was Obamacare screwing them over, so if the party that they just put in a majority can't fix that for them, then they'll go right back to voting for their status quo. Good job, Trumpmonkeys.

The GOP will have 59, 60 or 61 seeds in less than two years and they will have to do it or face the consequences in 2020

Yup. If you can't get one party to stop the bleeding, might as well have the other party give you as much free isht as you can get.

Obamacare ended up being a tremendous gift to the Republicans, and they totally screwed the pooch. So much winning.

It really is a fascinating failure. One has to wonder if it's intentional. Ray Charles could see this coming.

It's been The People v. Government for a long time.

Hopefully this will wake some up to the fact that BOTH parties consider them subjects not citizens

If you trust any of these f@ckers with your healthcare... you're a fool. .
