that is exactly why we are where we are in this debate

We're in this debate because al gore took credit for it. It should have never been politicized I don't understand it. Every year more and more people switch over to "we know the earth is warming dumbass we just don't know why" while sitting next to someone on their side that posts pictures of snow to prove the earth isn't warming. If there was a consensus among pretty much any other scientific community the general public would agree with it, but since this has become a left and right thing there's an issue. Surely you as a scientist sees the difference.

Then don't defend yourself coming back to another Nye thread after yesterday.

But the challenge still stands:
Please provide a Nye quote incorporating the term "ice age" from that interview that does not include scientifically false information.

I'm happy to put your arse in place again in this thread if you'd like.

No it doesn't. It didn't "stand" in that thread and it doesn't "stand" in this thread.

I like Bill Nye.

I think Bill Nye had a great show and exposed a lot of people to the scientific method and basic scientific facts and made it "fun" for kids.

However, Bill Nye has a mechanical engineering background. I am a mechanical engineer with the same background and I also went and pursued a Masters in the field.

I can say, without a doubt, I have learned nothing about climatology in any of my classes, at any of my jobs, or in any of my research. Neither has any of my colleagues.

Bill Nye is not an expert in the field and is no more qualified to speak about it than a veterinarian or computer software developer.

Science is not a poll conducted enterprise. Politics is.

In terms of questions Tucker was asking, there is no ""consensus"" I'm aware of.
But as has been suggested, the question for warmists is what should be done even is every bit of hysteria is justified?

China and India and other rapidly developing, carbon emitting economies are not going away. What should be done?

Okay, here it sits.

Take your time.

That isn't necessary for anything I've said.

You should wait for it, though.

that is going to happen, period

If you have the data to make this prediction then you have the data to give some estimated date. So when will this happen? Next year? Ten years from now? Thirty?

Not only is China spending hundreds of billions of dollars for clean energy, they have almost 1.5 BILLION people. To use them putting out more CO2 than us as a talking point is pretty dumb. India has plans to get 60% of their electricity from non fossil fuels in the next decade. Everyone realizes what is going on and making the correct steps to correct the issue, except this board where it's funny when a guy says he burned tires all day or just lets his car sit in neutral cause he "prefers warm weather".

Would you agree that's why tuck tuck had him on? And how I'm willing to bet the farm that he would never have an actual climatologist on?

More CO2 than us?
We are a developed economy. China and India are not.
So again, as they continue to develop, WTF is the CO2 reduction proposal?

No, he's right. China's investment in renewable energy is pretty immense.

China has no intention of disadvantaging itself economically to reduce carbon output. Zero!

There are major issues driving China's "Carbon Policy" none of which has the least to do with altruistic desire to "save the planet".
(1) China has limited fossil fuel resources (ffr)
(2) 2° to #1, China is in constant pursuit of alternative energy sources, e.g., hydro, solar
(3) Coal represents a very large % of what FFRs China does possess.
(4) Chinese coal burns dirty (see #5)
(5) For 3 decades China took far more interest in fast energy production, than clean energy production. As a result, it's cities are massively polluted. Residents are unhappy about it. There is pressure on Xi to reduce urban smog. Were it not for that, China would continue as is, indefinitely.
(6) If by participating in "Climate Conferences", China can convince developed countries to disadvantage themselves, therefore allowing China to close the gap, it will do anything to achieve that end.

You've been duped.

I think Tuck had him on because Nye is a fake scientist who spouts off about liberal viewpoints like he's an expert on climate change, abortion, etc. and he needs to be exposed as the clown that he is.
Id like to hear a knowledgeable debate on it, but neither Tuck or Nye should be anywhere near it.
