re: Bill Nye beatdown.

It's really his delivery more so than his questions.
Several of his questions were nonsensical as well. I'd like to watch a debate between two people worth watching. This reminds me of the Ken Ham/Bill Nye debate. I like Bill Nye, but he's not my preference when watching these issues debated.

all Tucker did was interrupt the answer Nye was giving because he was too stupid to understand it.
Nye wasn't answering anything. He was spouting out talking points that are not verifiable.

He offered specific examples of what would be different. How is that "rambling"?
Because he was only hypothesizing on what would be different in the absence of man.

The point, at least in my opinion, is the treatment of "skeptics" within the left and scientific community is uncalled for and a bastardization of science itself.
Sometimes, but I will never defend ignorance.

Best part was Carlson complaining about people shouting down deniers, when that's exactly what he was doing to Nye the entire time.

That is Tucker's schtick and I am sick of it - have been since his second show when it became apparent he was either just shooting fish in a barrel or over shouting anyone who could come close to competing with him.
That said, I made a point to watch the Nye interview because I hoped it would either entertaining or enlightening. Wrong on both counts. Nye was revealed as a lightweight and Tucker kept his schtick of interrupting and laughing. Both looked weak as rainwater and not a single informative neuron connection was made.
But Nye is a goofball - he has nothing but talking points he doesn't really understand and an air of self-appointed but undeserved superiority. In other words, he is a typical DIMprog - worthless

You are very much mistaken if you think Tucker is an idiot.
My only problem with his is his schtick. I don't like that style of debate.
Bill Nye needs to stick to lava lamps. He is no scientist. He probably knows how to say about a dozen things, and ever once in a while he might say one of them for you.

I thought that was the whole bit. Basically, I'm going to talk over you and dismiss everything you're attempting to say. Now how does that feel?

He certainly plays one on his show.

Holy shite y'all actually think Carlson won that? Or that nye was being the conceited one? Man that's the stretch of the century.
Carlson backed off when nye started bringing up the actual effects of the earth warming and the segment ended with Carlson weaseling out. This may be the only place in the universe where either of them "beat down" the other. Carlson says he had him on because of his scientific integrity, then got pissy and said you aren't even a scientist. This is hilarious.

Nye isn't a scientist. He just played one on a kids show and takes himself to seriously.

Correct, which is why "tuck tuck" had him on instead of a person that is an expert in climatology

What? No. Effects don't answer causation. Nye was avoiding the question.
Posted on 3/1/17 at 12:48 pm to Cruiserhog
Nye deserved the beatdown. He went on there and all he did was spout a lot of anecdotal crap and Tucker went after him for specifics.
Posted on 3/1/17 at 12:50 pm to olddawg26
It's aggravating but Tucker clearly is using his show to expose pseudointellectuals who make unfounded claims and who make the most noise. And that's fine. Maybe we shouldn't look to his show for serious debate.
Posted on 3/1/17 at 12:52 pm to SabiDojo
He wasn't asking causation he asked what the climate would be without human interaction. Whether nye was right or wrong is perfectly up for debate, but he gave an answer. Tucker didn't challenge that. He gave specifics for what would be happening had humans not pumped green house gasses.

Completely agree, but the swamp people on this board are using it as sound evidence against humans affecting climate change so that's why I had to say something. I don't think either one of them won anything. I also don't think there's a solid answer to that question. Tuck tuck had a person who isn't an expert in this field on to ask him a question that doesn't have a specific answer.

Ummmm... I am actually a scientist unlike Bill Nye, and Carlson clearly beat him down.
He refused to answer the questions and instead deflected and called anyone questioning his interpretation of the data to be a denier and an idiot.
I believe in climate change, and I believe in much of the research. The fact, however, is that many of the researchers are exaggerating the effects humans have had on climate change and that is exactly why we are where we are in this debate.
It reminds me of the shitty arguments on the pay gap where they intentionally use misleading stats to exaggerate their points.
In that example, the argument is that women are paid less across the board, which is not true. The fact is that women, particularly mothers, are losing salary because of the fact we have unpaid maternity leave and when a child is sick, usually the mother is the one taking off work. Those are actual facts.
That women are actually getting paid less than men across the board for the same work is utterly bullshite, but that is why they will continually lose that argument. They are trying to oversell the issue, just like climate change advocates, and most people are tired of being told the end of the world is near.
