The contraceptives Hobby Lobby objected to prevent pregnancies by preventing ovulation or by obstructing an egg from being fertilized. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists “there is no scienti?c evidence that emergency contraceptives available in the United States and approved by the FDA affect an existing pregnancy.”

Now, here's what Samuel Alito wrote in his majority opinion in the Hobby Lobby case:

quote:

“The owners of the businesses have religious objections to abortion, and according to their religious beliefs the four contraceptive methods at issue are abortifacients. If the owners comply with the [Obama administration’s contraception] mandate, they believe they will be facilitating abortions..."

So, what's the danger here? Hobby Lobby could have believed, instead, that the pills would cause pigs to fly out of Scalia's fat butt, and that they have a religious objection to pigs generated from the assholes of assholes, and Alito's logic would not need to be reworked in any way. Even when science tells us that a religious belief is FLAT OUT WRONG it must be respected above compelling state interest, according to this asinine and crooked Supreme Court.

A Supreme Court ruling that continues the Republican war on women AND its war on science.

I can see why you're thrilled.

Then why are they prescribed/taken? What are they promoted to do?

i agree i don't think it's an abortion, but that's my belief

an employer paying for it has nothing to do with rights, though

As it turns out, they ought not have to pay for them if they don't want to.

Rex...

do you believe that the morning after pill could be seen as an abortive procedure?

if christians believe that life begins at conception, then killing that life after conception would be abortive correct?

If this was the case, then no one would ever use them.

Rex, you're like the little boy who cried "wolf" too many times. By now, nobody would believe you even if you laid out an honest, sincere argument about some matter.

Is the employer blocking the door to her pharmacy?

If not, what's in her way?

Are you saying women can't get themselves a plan to cover BC? So they need government to do it for them?

"Tough titty," said the kitty, "but the milk's still good!"

It's the law of the land now.
