I don't think you've broken any rules that would be ban-worthy. One or more of your posts may be in poor taste IMHO, but I guess enough time has elapsed that it's ok to say such critical things about a poster who has passed.

You just have to watch for the key words.

"I don't support gay marriage." = regular Joe.

"Gay behavior erodes the soul, prevents you from experiencing god's love, and is destroying our society." = someone who spends a bit too much time thinking about gay things.

los angeles tiger was never in the closet. Charley, his real name, was quite openly gay, although he lived a celibate life the last years of his life. But I repeat, he was never in the closet as far as I know. He opposed gay marriage on religious grounds, but that doesn't make him anti-gay. It makes him anti-gay marriage.

You're thinking about los angeles tiger, who passed away a few months ago. He was openly gay and extremely conservative.

I'm straight, happily married, and the father of 3 beautiful children.

No issue. Just knew a LA poster was a conservative gay. No big deal.

And RIP to LAT.

It's been my observation those who are the loudest about how perverted being a homosexual is are generally the ones the deepest in the closet with their own sexuality.
That has not been my experience.

Though you also see that with the deeply religious or conservative and their sexual tastes.
That has been my experience.

This was my understanding as well. He may have said some awful things about gay people that I may have missed though. After your post I don't know how you could call him a coward or possibly evil.

It's a really disheartening situation, and one this board is very familiar with. los angeles tiger turned out to be gay.

Since you finally updated, I believe LAT's issue was the tactics the gay movement used in the quest for equality.

Charley (LAT) was a great guy. Openly gay, though celibate in his later life, quite conservative, and quite passionate in his opposition to gay marriage. I guess some saw him as a walking contradiction, but I never did. Most people, like Charley, are far too complex to fit neatly into labels. He was who he was. I miss him.

He was very mean on this board to Toddy. I used to chide him about that.

That may be true, but I really think he was calling him out with regards to LGBT tactics and rhetoric.

ETA: I actually think he was strong individually to be openly gay and call out the gay movement.

This is an absolute shitty thread....but I'll play along

You take the experience of what? one or two people and cast this blanket?

I love how anti-homosexuality, esp ones based upon religion, is cast into a hateful, fear mongering bunch... I happen to think homosexuality is wrong, sinful, and not natural.

But on my list of 5,783 things to worry about in life, homosexuals and what the hell they're doing in the bedroom is pretty much the last fricking thing on that list. I don't wish them harm, I certainly don't hate, and as long as they were a decent human being I'd pretty much give one my last dollar, shirt off my back, or the last bread from my table.

And as far as the gay porn stuff.... I just can't imagine....and I'm a pure bred member of the 'I'm pretty sure I like pussy crowd'

Don't know about that, but they are likely to have a wider stance in public bathrooms.

I never understood why he could never seperate the core socially conservative principles he grew up with from the reality he was facing as an openly gay man.

SO does the OP also believe militant atheists secretly believe in God and hate themselves for it?

he was open about it. he wasn't against homosexuality...he was against the risky behaviors of that culture

he lived in los angeles, though, so he got to see an extreme example of the culture that we won't ever see here in LA

What do you mean "turned out to be" ?? Are you implying that he was 'in the closet' ??

It was no secret. He just didn't go around making it the focal point of his life, like our Ol Miss fan does. He was a conservative, and abhorred the 'gay pride' bullshite that was going on.

You are talking about a good friend of mine. If you don't know him personally, go easy with your assumptions.

He denied it a lot here, and was incredibly vocal in his disgust and hatred for people who are gay. I didn't really care much, but when I heard that he was survived by a partner, I was bothered.

It didn't make me mad at him. I still actually think he was a pretty good guy. But I hate that he felt the need to be so ardently anti-gay when he had a partner.
