If the republicans nominate this fool they have lost my vote forever. Cruze has zero chance in a general election, he just plain is not likable. Regardless of his views and politics he just plain can not resonate with voters. There is no group that I am aware of that self identifies with Cruze, and that is a huge hurdle. JMHO

VB, I went back up to the top of this old thread and read every post again. I have concluded that half of the posters on this thread have no idea what 'hypothetical' means.
I could start a hypo: "Who would win in an election between Bambi and Godzilla?" And most posters would say: They aren't gonna run.

Then why is he an elected official is he is so hated?
I'd definitely vote for Cruz over fricking Elizabeth Warren.

Exactly! We have so many pressing problems and Cruz wants to curb the speech of gays.

He won his senate seat by 16 points. I think the MSM has created a Cruz narrative that paint an unflattering portrait of him. That's a lot to overcome.

I'd vote for Cruz today over anyone except Rand. Hatred for a candidate who is on the right indicates who the left fears the most.

Shutting down gay pride parades.

So if Jay Leno runs, I fear him the most? Because I certainly despise the man.

Rand Paul voted against that bill because it reauthorized some provisions of the Patriot Act, which he sees as unconstitutional.
Justin Amash also voted against that bill:
quote:
But the bill was so weakened in behind-the-scenes negotiations over the last week that the government still can order—without probable cause—a telephone company to turn over all call records for "area code 616" or for "phone calls made east of the Mississippi." The bill green-lights the government's massive data collection activities that sweep up Americans' records in violation of the Fourth Amendment.
quote:
It's shameful that the president of the United States, the chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and the leaders of the country's surveillance agencies refuse to accept consensus reforms that will keep our country safe while upholding the Constitution. And it mocks our system of government that they worked to gut key provisions of the Freedom Act behind closed doors.

I don't know of a single gay pride parade Ted Cruz prevented. It would be interesting to talk to the man and see why he may oppose such parades.

Why do you fear Jay Leno? He seems pretty much benign?

Look at his district, Dianne Feinstein would have won by 16 points with a (R) beside her name.

Amen, and he has not helped himself by coming off as a douchebag. This is his biggest problem LINK. He lags behind none and nobody in favorability polls. He is a waste of time for the Republicans and thet don't like him enough to rehab his image.

If Ted Cruz shut down a Gay Pride parade there would already be a made for TV movie about it. Zach lived in a college suite with 7 other male students. Four rooms. 4 of the 8 were gay. We were all good friends. My room mate was gay. But Zach learned very early that gays lie. It's just what they do.
Later, in doing research on AIDS I found out just how much they lie institutionally. Like in the early 1990s when they said Reagan caused AIDS. Then in the late 90s they fabricated scientific research that predicted AIDS would go air borne and infect most heteros by 2000. They just make shite up all the time.

And that's the angle the Boston papers are playing up. She never denied she would run, just repeated several times that she is not currently running.

I think the left would love it if the republicans nominated cruz.
he would be easy to differentiate vs HRC. Whereas with Jeb, it would come down to who is more liked. And HRC isn't going to win many likeability contests, although neither will anyone with the bush name.
I think your strategy is going to end up with comical results. I get it, sometimes I take the position the opposite of a person I don't like. But it has its faults.
