How much do LSU professors and instructors make?

I've asked this before, but wanted to get more opinions (especially from anyone who has worked at LSU). I have a B.A. and have been considering going back to LSU or maybe Southern for a Masters degree.
I would like to become a foreign language instructor at LSU, only it seems that 1. They don't get paid much, 2. Instructors are often Phd candidates.
So for clarification, how much money would I make per semester for being an instructor of 1-2 classes? How much do non-tenured professors make? I'm a business owner, but I don't think it would be difficult for me to continue running my business and teach one or two 3-hour classes a semester.

I can't see it being a problem either, and if it does you can always try night classes.
I've heard they don't get paid shite, but its probably a matter of public record since they work for the state.

That's actually a lot more than I thought it would be. The catch is that it said "full time instructor", which makes me wonder just how much time you have to dedicate to work each week. If we're talking a 30 hour workweek, count me in. Given I'm unmarried with no kids, I consider 41k to be great money.

As a professor at another University, I guess I should throw my input in.
Those averages can be misleading. First of all professors make a whole lot more than instructors, because they do a lot more than teach. Instructors probably do make about 40K. Also, those salaries are based on 9 months, but most work year round, so those salaries could be >30% more.
Also depends on the department. Not sure about business, but starting asst profs (w/o tenure yet) in engineering can make around 6 figures.

All LSU employee's salary is public information, and kept on file in Hill Memorial Library. I know you can look it up by employee name, but I am unsure if you can by dept. Just get a couple of names of instructors and go look up what the make

I guess I'm going to try to get my Masters and try to get an instructor's job somewhere. Getting into Grad school is going to be a total pain in the arse, I graduated with literally the lowest C average you can actually get a B.A. with. I've got kickass extracurriculars and real world experience since then, but I'm probably going to get crappy GRE scores.
Something tells me that I'll be getting a Masters degree at Southern.

Kaplan GRE prep with the CD will help raise your score a good amount if you're not used to or good at standardized tests.

I know for a fact (Close relative) that certain types of professors make more than others. Business/engineering professors make more than many others. I guess to stay competitive to what they could make on the outside. I have a few professors tell me being a college professor is the easiest job in the world. They complain about teaching 15 hours a week. I also know adjunct professors that teach only 1 class a semester make about 2K per class.

i wasn't too happy at how low those LSU faculty salaries are, esp since i'd like to join the faculty there one day. those assoc prof/prof salaries lag behind the national average but may not lag too far behind the southern average. those salaries may be misleading esp. in the basic sciences where profs may have research monies coming in. not sure if LSU or LSUHSC handles such things this way, but some profs' salaries are padded on top of the base depending on whether they cover a certain percentage of their salary with grant funding. depends on how a particular university works their faculty contracts, whether or not the department is research-active, basic or clinical, tenure position (which means nothing at some places), etc.
