I know its your job and everything but with the amount of people that now smoke weed and the movement it has created. If its not large amounts, and the driver is nice and complies with everything you say. Would you let them go?

I dont think a lot of cops will be bothered by a petty amount of marijuana.

Of course they do, without busts they would have to start paying for their own bud.

Sure they do.

They don't willingly give up income sources.

Your friend should be fired and charged with aiding and abetting.

Police officers are the teachers of public service. It's the job you get when you really can't do anything else.

They need shite like speeding tickets and weed busts to make themselves feel important.

I was riding with my sister a few months back, coming home from getting a pizza, and we were pulled over on Burbank. Cop says he saw my sister (the driver) drinking a beer- turned out to be a can of sprite zero). Not willing to admit to himself he's an idiot, the cop tells us he thinks we have weed in the car, makes us get out, performs 2 grope-searches on each of us and then proceeds to throw every single item in the car out searching for a smidge of plant matter. Calls for backup and 3 more cruisers show up, all of them rifling through her stuff, throwing her shite out on the side of the road. All this while we are sitting in the back of seperate cruisers like criminals, bear in mind neither of us had done anything wrong whatsoever. An hour and 15 minutes later (she had a very messy car) we started picking up her stuff offf the side of the road (while they watched, we were told if we left any of it out there they'd hit us with a littering charge) we were on our way with a cold pizza, having been adequately protected and served.

I knew a guy who wad a little younger than me, I remember he would shoot up meth when he was 15 and make pipes.

Moved away for a few years, came back and saw him in a store wearing a police uniform.

Felt like a clockwork orange.

This is actually a thing?

When I was young and stupid, my friends and I were in my beat up monte carlo riding around in the summer and exited off at the airport exit in Alexandria on I-49. Well we end up getting lost in the hangers and need to turn around. Well we suddenly pass this random cop sitting in a really random place. At this point were as suspicious as it gets so he pulls us over. Im in my baseball uniform, smells like weed. He searches the vehicle and finds the weed but lets us go. Come to find out, he was there only because he had previously made a cocain bust in the exact area and he was only there filling out paper work. (this is what he told our parents because he had called them off of our phones letting them know what went down, this was about 10 years ago though)

I've heard first hand from a federal prosecutor that they no longer prosecute for weed. Only way he said they would is if it was a major trafficking operation. This is in the 5th circuit at that.

I hope they do. I'd rather potheads who break the law pay their salaries as opposed to my tax dollars.
