Exactly. Don't think I will ever buy a new one.....unless I win Publisher's Clearing House.

If someone hits you who gets to decide whether the vehicle gets totaled or repaired?

The insurance company; if the vehicle costs more to fix (or a % of that) than it's worth, it's deemed totaled, HOWEVER you can take the settlement $ from the insurance company and put some of your own cash down and get the vehicle fixed. IF the frame is trashed may not want to do it though.

I made the mistake of filling out the form for winning $7k a week for the rest of my life. Now, I will be receiving junk mail from them everyday for the rest of my life. But man, I could get off the grid for $7k a week.....maybe I'll fill out the form one more time.

05 GMC with 199k... it's only a weekend/deer lease trip every few weeks kind of a vehicle now, so I can see keeping for at least 5 or so more years. I drive my wife's old 03 camry with 170k on it back and forth to work now (45 miles 1 way) and hope to get another 2 or 3 years out of it.

In 12 years I've replaced the rack & pinion and a wheel bearing.

What this thread tells me is that every manufacturer besides Nissan makes a good truck

They're all shitty IMO

For what they cost, they should hold up better than they do already.

I keep them for 10 years.

If I spend 50,000 on a truck and let's say 5,000 on a truck to maintain then that's 5,500 a year on the truck. I think I got my money's worth. I'll take it.

95k on an 09 Sierra and the transmission crumbles...complete crap. Parts replaced so it might last till 125k but seriously pissed me off. I don't want to buy another (used or otherwise) till 250k-300k or it dies.

My "cousin" had an early 90s Toyota 22RE truck that was passed down from my "uncle". I think it finally took a shite around 650k
