I never saw this coming. My son in law and I were pond fishing for bream last Saturday. We had five nice bream on a stringer when we went inside to take a break. When we came back outside, we saw a heron (we think) take flight with the stringer of fish in its mouth. Later, I found one bloodied fish still on the stringer on the bank on the other side of the pond. I hope the bird doesn't eat the baby wood ducks when they hatch out in a few weeks.

Our big pond doesn't belong to us. It's belongs to a couple of herons. We just get to fish it on the weekends. They get to fish all day every day.

I know how big the bream are by the pics I get of them snagging them out of the water.

I had one steal a bream off of my hook while I was reeling it in. The bird snatched it and started to fly away. For a few seconds I was actually reeling in bird and fish out of midair.

When I was a kid, I was fishing in the creek, and thought I caught a small bream. As I was reeling it in with my zebco 404, it suddenly got heavier. I was able to get it close to the bank and raised the line, there was a big arse cottonmouth with his fangs stuck through my little bream. That was traumatic.

I think I even gave him the zebco.

I heard that a lady that called WLF yesterday complaining a Heron flew off with one of her kittens. I also met a guy once that told me his uncle's sister's nephew's girlfriend's boss's wife knew someone that might or might not shoot them with his bow.

Hate those things. They always catch me off guard walking to my stand in the am. Also removing one from a coyote trap by yourself is less fun than you think.

Had a padnah that did aquaculture work for his grad degree, he had a hurt on for herons, they all but screwed up his work. We would be duck hunting and a heron would come to close .... When he was doing his aquaculture work he had a permit to remove herons etc from the ponds ... It wasn’t too hard to round up a few volunteers for a white bird and heron rodeo – he would buy the shells and we did the rest
