re: out of state deer lease - smoked hog
Alabama, we don't have any deer in Arkansas. In all seriousness, South AR has some incredible deer numbers and depending on the zone some ridiculously long rifle seasons. If you head toward the delta expect deer numbers to drop drastically but quality is tough to beat....

re: Pops cant cock his crossbow - smoked hog
If he is just grabbing the string and pulling he would find it easier if he used a rope cocking aid. Much easier on his hands and he basically is using his legs instead of arms....

re: Saw an able bodied man practicing with a crossbow yesterday - smoked hog
I know I'm weird here but I find the challenging portion of bow hunting to be getting trophy bucks at less than 30 yards, not the shooting portion. Yes standing and drawing is more difficult but that was much easier to learn than figuring deer out was. I also think most people greatly over estim...

re: Saw an able bodied man practicing with a crossbow yesterday - smoked hog
I used a crossbow to get into archery. Dropped them a couple of years ago and switched to compound. If not for xbow I wouldn't have gotten started. Compound is harder but the difference is less than most act like. Crossbow is much closer to compound than it is to rifle....

re: Yearly Teachers are Complaining about their Vacation Being Over - smoked hog
Damn, looks like I need to move to LA to teach. My pay/benefits don't get even close. There are a lot of shitty teachers. I think that any teacher that argues this is probably one of the shitty ones. And most of the teachers bitching are probably women that bitch about everything. It amazes at ...

re: Need a new drill for around the house and doing odds and ends.... any recs? - smoked hog
Check battery prices. Whatever you get you will wear out the batteries long before the drill. Lot of great drills mentioned, but if your just an occasional user you won't see the benifit nearly as much....

re: Grocery Prices WTF? - smoked hog
Just picked up 4 whole pork loin for 1.28 lb. I'll break it down into roast and chops, then vacuum seal. I normally grow a 2000 sq ft garden. I do a lot of fishing in the spring and fall. Hunting normally provides a few hundred pounds of venison. I only buy beef for steaks and hamhurgers. With ...

re: OT Golfers - How long did it take you to break 100? - smoked hog
Decided to start playing a few years ago. Best thing I did was get a few lessons and buy set of birdie balls. This let's you hit in the back yard. Practice short game a lot. 1st round was a 126, by round 4 I shot a 94. By round 7 I shot an 89. 2nd year I shot an 82. Ask around for the best ...

re: Looking for a new driver (golf, not Mrs. Daisy) - smoked hog
If you aren't a woman or old get a stiff shaft. You will be able to contol it better. If you have control issues a higher loft driver will normally be better. I would highly recommend a lesson and a pack of birdie balls. GOOD practice will help more than any equipment ever will....

re: Hot water heater not making very hot water - smoked hog
If you are at all mechanically inclined swap out elements and maybe thermostat. If you're not good at stuff like that, no judgement, please hire somone. Electricity and highly mineralized water don't mix. And off all the TD boards this on is the one most likely to find the combo of knowledgeable...

re: The average American woman now weighs as much as the average 1960s man - smoked hog
6'2" and about 195 right now and bigger than I like. When I was down to 175 I was too skinny. Around 185 is the sweet spot for me....

re: What is the right's issue with working people being paid decent wages? - smoked hog
I took my first min wage job at 11. I worked for a farmer doing something called pulling red rice during the summers. By the end of the summer I was above min wage because I out worked several older workers. By the time I was 14 I was leading a crew of older workers making double min wage. My last ...

re: Best Reasonably Inexpensive Beginner Golf Clubs? - smoked hog
Look for an old set of ping eye2. Old enough to be cheap, forgiving and still able to work the ball as you advance. The lofts are a bit steeper so you won't hit as far but just club up. You can't go wrong. Also hybrids are great, just look for stiff shaft unless you are old or 115 pounds....

re: Walmart will sort of treat you right if you are a celebrity - smoked hog
Good god he is a terrible troll. I really, really hope that is what you are, otherwise you are one of the dumbest people I've ever spoken with. Walmart is not a bad place to work for someone with no skill set. With even a modicum of intelligence and drive you can move up pretty quickly. As for ...
