My daughter's class hatched baby chickens. My wife signed up to bring one home.

Well I got the little guy some feed and water, he is in a cardboard box with a lamp on him. I have newspaper lining the bottom of the box. What else can I do to make him comfortable?

Mind he will only be with us for a short while, eventually we will take him to one of our friend's farm.

More chicks! Make sure there is some food on the bottom of the box. He will already want to scratch for food.

Take out newspaper and put pine shavings. Tractor supply has it. Also needs a mate.

If the chick is not making a lot of noise don't do anything else. The more noise it makes the more is wrong; cold, hungry, thirsty.

Problem is tractor supply only sells them in groups of six or more.

Just left from getting some pine shavings.

I went to PetSmart and bought a 1 gallon glass aquarium. Threw some rocks in it and let the chick live in there for three days. Didn't last though because I forgot to add water and food as per the PetSmart employees suggestions.
