I'm married to a PA. I like her making more money than a RN and doesn't have to work overtime, weekends or holidays to do so. She runs her own clinic twice a week, makes her own schedule and pretty much comes and goes as she pleases. On top of that gets 3 weeks vacation a year plus sick days.

Don't try to justify it. But whatever helps you sleep at night.

So most of your nurses are making $65/hour?

OK, Congrats?

Not justifying anything, but see you are. I didn't I say one job was better than the other. Two completely different rolls (minis NPs)

I responding to the notion the quality of life isn't leaps and bounds different.

Here all MD, NP, PA are required to work alternating shifts. Mid-level and MD's get no benefits as they work for Emcare.

Congrats to your wife, sounds like she has a sweet gig. My wife doesn't work because well, she doesn't have to.

Rate varies on experience and shift diffs.

So to answer you question with shift diffs, yes many do when they work a Fri/Sat/Sun shift.

Here, RNs work 3 days a week, PAs work 4, the pay difference is not as much as you might think. PAs do not get shift diffs, RNs get $7/hr more for nights, $3/hr critical care pay, 1.5 x hourly base pay for weekends.

Most of my nurses are making $100k+/- working 3 days a week (36hrs).

So to answer your question, yes.

Not anywhere in this area. My wife is an RN in the ICU and she works her arse off and her job is much tougher than mine but gets paid less with worse benefits.

My post was in response to the poster that tried to compare the pay, quality of life and work. There is nothing to compare. Nothing at all. Both are totally different in every aspect.

Houston or Dallas pays well.

Cali nurses make more but then you have Union dues.

You can make significantly more money/have greater autonomy becoming a PA as opposed to becoming a nurse.

So most of your nurses have enough experience and only work Fri Sat and Sun and all make $65/hour??

And they all have a better quality of life than a PA that works 9-5 M-F?

okay

You as a spouse who is not in the field, knows the day to day of both professions.

Fwiw, an associates degree in nursing may net you the same bring home and be a little easier to obtain. You can always do a step program later to np if you choose. I would say my quality of life/work balance would rival most NP/PAs.

Except many hospitals now only want to hire BSN nurses. Many making their diploma and associate nurses go back to school or they no longer have a job. I wouldn't recommend anyone go the associates route nowadays.

It'll all be the same soon enough.

Optometrist---> Doctor of Optometry --> Optometric physician.

Chiropractor--> Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine--> Board certified chiropractic neurologist

Nurse Practitioner--> Doctor of nurse practitionary

PA---> physician associate--> a Doctor of applied physicianry

Do tell...

Tell me, one has a license and can be an independent practitioner and the other has to work under a licensed physician.

Care to guess which is which?

Why are you hung up on $65/hr? Never made that claim, only many here as making $100k +/- 3 days a week.

Sure experience, specialty, and shift determines pay.

Some more, some less.

I didn't say one carer was better than the other, only the quality of life is similar.

Why is that so hard to fathom?

Nurses here are required to work 3 days a week.

PAs, must work 4days a week.

Nurses have full benefits with 401k matching.

PAs get zero benefits, ZERO . Must pay own insurance and no investment matching.

Nurses work days or nights but not required for both.

PAs are required to work alternating days as and nights.
