He has a high ceiling because he started relatively late to the basketball scene. That is definitely in his favor.

How in the world is he listed at 6-10 and measured at 6-7.5? Did he grow over the course of a year or is the discrepancy really that big?

Very obviously a mistake on draftexpress's part.. They might have switched Martin and Mickey's heights or something.

They don't seem to be very impressed overall although they do have some nice things to say. But the things they said that were negatives or some of the exact same things that were said on this forum.

"On the other, he is a very poor passer, his defense was frequently lackluster, and his perimeter game is still very much a work in progress."

Guess they were true after all. And no it isn't all because Johnny Jones is a bad coach. Defense is desire and hustle, same with jump shooting and free throw shooting. All of those things require hard work and Martin had better get busy if he wants to stay on a team.

It says he's 6' 7.5" in shoes, with an average wingspan of 6'9" to 6'10". Those measurements would hurt his draft stock.

My guess is he will measure about 6-8 1/2.

Damn near everything is working in progress, regression from his freshman year, or lack luster accept his transition game. I still don't understand why he left unless he just needs a quick buck.

He could benefit from another year playing with guys who are good enough that opponents wouldn't be able to double up on Martin.

It's wrong.

Draftexpress switched up his height and wingspan. If you look at the Nike Skills Academy roster it has him at 6'10, as does nbadraft website. Draftexpress messed up.

But it's a coach's responsibility to DEMAND hustle and hard work from the player. And if the player doesn't give it, the coach needs to find the right buttons to push to get it from the player. It's called coaching.

Right. Coach Jones should have had Malone out there for 30 mpg. Not everything is black and white like you guys think it is.

I don't even understand what this means.

My point, that you were responding to, is that coaches must demand effort and intensity from their players. And it's part of a coach's job is to figure out how to get that maximum effort from his players. Different players need to be handled differently, as some respond better to the whip and others respond to a softer touch. In large part, it's psychological. And good coaches know how to do this.
