This question has without a doubt never been asked here.

It's vegan.

I had a catholic once tell me that chicken wasn't meat. It was poultry, so he could have chicken during lent.

What about the elusive and majestic sea cow, the manatee?

They are warm-blooded but spend their lives in water.

Plus, it is only 50% sea.

I like to think of it it terms of intelligence. Smart animals are meat. Stupid ones are fish.

Chickens are fish.

Archbishop Aymond says that frog/turtle/gator are to be allowed on Fridays as "seafood". This is because they provide little nourishment just like fish. The reason there is abstention of most other meats is because they provide many calories.

The thought is that by abstaining from heavy calorie foods, people will feel a small sacrifice that reminds them of sacrifices made by Jesus. However, most people ruin this by eating fatty fried seafood loaded with calories and nourishment. (defeats the entire purpose). And most people forget that they are only supposed to have one single meal on Friday during Lent.

What's more interesting is how the OT is so concerned with what everyone else does, or thinks.

"Hahahaha you don't eat meat but you'll eat a shrimp poboy or crawfish that's no sacrifice!!!"

Unless someone is just being obnoxious about their Lenten fasting, I don't see why people care what others do. The last three Fridays I've had seared tuna, a pizza, and a peanut butter and jelly for dinner. I can promise you I don't think I'm a better human for eating seared tuna, nor for eating peanut butter and jelly for dinner.

Tonight I will probably have whatever seafood option is served at the baseball game.

this is one of those morality discussions for the modern era. kind of like issues with being "greedy" or "rich"

judgment is like the evil word "discrimination", which has turned into a bad word, but is necessary for everyday life
