I'm sure this thread will get aborted, but this is interesting...
The tomb is empty...

So, they narrowed the age down to a 700 year time frame?

I had no idea they were testing it again. It didn't get any press time this time around. Sounds like the results prove it to have really have had a dead guy in it about 1650 to 2350 years ago. The practice of burying people that way can narrow the time frame down a little bit.

I would love to take a trip and see that in person.

Thought they'd already proven it to be legit?

Wasn't it on display at the 1984 World's Fair in New Orleans?

So the shroud is 335 years older than the Earth? Nice try, science.

Someone else carbon dated it to the Middle Ages and it was a big news story.

Um...YECs believe the Earth is 6000 years old (or in some cases 12K or 20K), not 2000.

So much fail, even if you are a bible literalist.

I'm not sure what a yec is but it sounds muslim so I'm sure they're fighting with Israel about how old the earth is as we speak. But regardless, the year RIGHT NOW is 2015 so a shroud that's 2350 years old would be older than that.

Swing and a miss on the joke. Can't all be a HR.

The hook was so freaking obvious, but you still got a few.

Might not be a forgery, but it wasn't Jesus'. His burial shroud was in two pieces.
John 20:7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.

I have seen a complete replica - Notre Dame center in Jerusalem and it was amazing! Can't imagine seeing the real thing.
Also, it can never really be proven to be real, it can be disproved (though every attempt to date has failed).
What is fascinating is there are like four different types of pollen on it that the ONLY place in the world all four of those plants are available is the Holy Land.
There are multiple circumstantial pieces of evidence like that. The energy source it would take to transfer the 3D image that is on the flat piece of cloth is impossible to replicate without destroying the clothe.
Just so many amazing things about the shroud...

This is a book written by a Catholic scientist and a journalist. Unless this experiment is repeated by other labs, there's no reason to think that these new findings overturn the 1988 dating.
