I don't get emotionally invested. I am an adult who is nearly twice the age of the players, and I graduated years ago. What kind of grown man actually gets emotionally invested in this stuff? It's an extracurricular activity at a school. Do you like basketball or are you just into guys?

On 1/9/12, I made a promise to myself to NEVER get emotionally wrapped up in any sport again. Seriously. I turned the game off at halftime, and watched the Pels(then Hornets) beat the Nuggets that night, not that was really any consolation. I was in a big funk after not just losing, but being shut out in that NC. The Bama posters on this site were unbelievably cruel, expectedly.
But the next day, the sun came up and life went on. Since then, we've lost to Bama every year, the Pels haven't been in the playoffs since, LSU basketball hasn't won a NCAA tournament game, and the Saints haven't made it back to the NFC championship (including an excruciating loss in the playoffs 3 days after that LSU NC loss).
Spend time with family, enjoy everything else in life, and have a good time. If your team wins, that's great. If they lose, who cares? You're not playing the game - some kids are. You're a spectator. Have fun at the tailgate and enjoy the contest. Everything else is completely out of your control, so what can you do about it anyway?
Just have fun. Sports aren't that serious.

There are a good 20% - I know you - that have been here all along, understand we choked this game away, but also know it's not the end all of end alls.
Thank you for the kind words.

This....But these teases that both the Football team and Basketball team give us, with major hi's and low's are painful to watch lately. But it just makes me disconnect more.

Nice contribution a-hole. It's a message board and a perfectly legit issue for a lot of the fans on here. Why don't YOU grow the frick up?

Do you know how utterly stupid this sounds?? Whats the sense in even watching then??
Why don't you GFY hard and long....and when you're through there chief.....do it again...k???
We'll see, it works like this. I watch LSU play and I cheer. If they win, great. It's exciting. If they lose. Oh well, moving on. I'm not going to let my mood be dictated by a game played by a group of kids.

Okay. You come on here and call the guy a loser over a perfectly reasonable post, and when I take issue with it I'm one too? Gotcha.

Well said!!.....why let something affect you that you have absolutely Zero control over?

Both of you guys are making the assumption that the "mood" lingers forever.....it doesn't...but thanks guys....both of you would fit right in on Dr. Phil.

Same here ... have for a while trying to detach from being so emotionally invested. Football games are the only games we make on a regular basis but watch/listen to as many other things as we can.
Actually considering on not letting LSU football schedule this fall control my calendar. My family/friends will be SHOCKED.
Yeah, I'm over it pretty quickly ... I guess I should say rather than emotionally invested in a game, I get emotionally INTO a game ... and then it's let go.

the key is to look at things more objectively, sometimes we're just not that good and there's not a damn thing you can do to fix it. bitching here and irl doesn't help, only contributes to making things worse. melting over sports failures is for suckers, especially if it gets to the point that you've melted so much that you can't even enjoy wins or recognize that there are things we do quite well in comparison to others.

No-I keep swearing off LSU basketball all the time, but if their on TV I watch it and get disgusted.
Posted on 3/20/15 at 11:31 am to bayoubengal225
Nope. I can say I never been emotionally invested. I don't compete and I don't have anyone I know personally that competes in lsu athletics so I can't be emotionally attached
Posted on 3/20/15 at 11:32 am to bayoubengal225
Well this should make you feel better. I think I took it pretty hard.

I layed in bed for an hour seeing that train wreck over and over. Woke up this morning thinking about it. I know you can't win them all but it's the way they lose that is torture. If you execute and lose I'm fine with that. LSU teams seem to be playing against themselves too often and that is what is hard to stomach.

You just get emotionally invested from posts on the rant

Like many of the previous posters stated on here, after 1/9 a lot of things changed on how I view lsu sports. I just don't get very emotional anymore.
Think of it this way - there is not anything you can do to change the outcome of the game. When I finally realized that, I realized there are a lot more important things in life than lsu sports.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still as invested during the games as ever, but if they happen to lose then I don't let it ruin my day.

For some reason, the Basketball team seems to affect me more than Football or Baseball
