Yes

He had like a 10% drop rate at FSU

Not to mention that Jimmy Graham was a raw basketball player when the Saints drafted him, so it's not like development or coaching can't help.

You can't post highlights against aTm's defense...those don't count

And it carried over to the pros with 12 drops this year.

Except is it on record that Cooks had no contact with the Saints organization until he was picked.

This actually happens a lot.

Sammie Coats = Devery Henderson

His potential role with the Saints

If the Saints pass on Jalen Strong....who is the same type of physical receiver as Coates, but who can run better routes and can catch the ball, they've gone bat sh<>t crazy.

Decent comparison, IMO. Both had great impacts on their college teams, very similar play-style, and similar draft analyst concerns.

i like the kid, a lot - but he has cinder block hands.
His hands have improved a lot while at AU. His hands are not "cinder block" hands. It is more of a "trying to do too much" situation with him. He needs better coaching on watching the ball all the way in before taking off. His hands are not as bad as Devery's were coming out, but he still needs work.

Meh. Robert Meachem 2.0

He is an all around better athlete than Meachem and has better hands IMO.

@dpbrugler: NFL Draft Buzz: #Saints have shown "considerable" interest in WR prospects Devin Smith & Sammie Coates (2nd round targets to replace Stills)
Looks like Devin Smith is in the mix as well.

Can't we get them in the 3rd?

Idk. I think you can rule Coates out by the third, but maybe not Smith but by a hair.

Coates is a freak. Comparison to meachem is extremely lazy and inaccurate. He was one of the best athletes in the SEC. Very strong, strongest guy proportionate to his body on Auburn's whole roster this year.

With good coaching and development, he could be a star. Not a good route runner, non ideal hands, but he's a great blocker and can take the top off of a D.
