The national media will sleep on this.

But I think he will be a very if not the most popular player we here will follow in camp

What do ya'll think his chances of are making the team? I'll be pulling for him as hard as anyone else, but just wondering what those of ya'll that know more than I do think about his chances?

A lot depends on us drafting more CB's in draft and via FA's.
If he stays healthy he seems to have a shot. The mini camps will say something about what the coaches think of him and Lewis's comments will carry some weight as well.
I think he would be available for the P.S.?

I expect him to make it. A lot of potential between him and SJB. One of them needs to step up and win the nickel job. I'm glad Fredricks and Dixon got some playing time but I think they are best kept on special teams, and at least they got some experience last year if needed in 2015

Mini camp and camp coming up. As Lewis is the leader in the secondary his words will carry some weight on how the kid is doing.

Is SJB and Breaux quick enough for nickel? Both are big bodies

God I hope this guy makes it on our roster too. I will also buy his jersey if that happens!

Most reports on him are that he is best in space on the outside....

quote:

“He’s played out on an island rather than inside against motion, so you would think that’s where they’ll use him, as an outside corner, trying to take advantage of those skills,” said Murphy – pointing out that the entire NFL and the NFC South, in particular, have been trending toward big, physical receivers (see: rookie breakouts Mike Evans and Kelvin Benjamin).

Seems like he has the speed and body of Patrick Robinson, but he is more physical so he is best suited to play on an island outside by himself in man coverage or run defense which is great. So many times last year the defensive line failed in attempts to apply pressure on the opposing QB and Ryan couldn't call blitz packages due to the poor play of the CB's. If Delvin and Browner are as physical as they say, I can see Ryan being able to blitz more which made the defense so successful in 2013.

Tidbit, I do not mean to be Saints biased but he reminds me of watching videos of Jabari Greer. When the Saints got Greer, I remember going on NFL.com to watch highlights and just remember watching Greer run with these WR's and anticipating the routes before the WR would show their hand, and it amazed me. Then Greer put on a black and gold uniform and had a very successful and nice career as a Saint.

This isn't the Greer video I am referring to but it is just another example of what I am talking about.

We had one of the lowest blitz rates in the NFL in 2013

Its all about front 4 pressure

Good point but mainly getting them on the field in nickel, regardless of who they guard. Breaux should have the quickness (I hope)

Delvin "Chip" Breaux, is one of the quickest/fast twitch guys I've seen. He could run full speed and twist his hips without ever breaking stride. I absolutely think he could play Nickel. Best of all with this overhaul of character issues, Chip is what they are looking for. He's a good guy with high character. I keep reminding people, he is not a guy that came from a small school and worked his way up though the ranks. He was a blue chip recruit who had a freak accident and is now making his way back and will work his a$$ off because he knows what its like to have it all taken away.

I honestly think he has a lot to do with us letting PRob walk. Sounds a little far fetched I know but we gave this kid a 3 year contract instead of a one year deal for a reason.

quote:

Breaux's contract includes the league minimum base salary in each of the three years, according to the NFLPA. His base salary is $435,000 in 2015, $525,000 in 2016 and $615,000 in 2017.

A portion of his 2015 salary -- $138,000, according to a league source -- is guaranteed even if he's released by the team.

And why give him a guarantee unless you think he's staying?

Oh and I will definitely buy a jersey the second he makes the team!

To make sure he doesn't take someone else's deal.
Its like right after the draft it can still be a bidding war to get the UDFA's you want to sign with your team. Small bidding wars break out.
