Figured some of the Latin food lovers like Glass would be interested in this development.

Not sure if it's a chain of sorts...says it's a Brooklyn based restaurant

Should be a welcomed addition at any rate

I have a feeling that Afreaux will just end up living there.

I thought it was a chain, but I could be wrong. Wasn't there a bunch of push back from the neighborhood?

I'm sure he knows the owner...

Anyway looks like there are 4 locations in NY and California so not really a chain.

Found the website.

The atmosphere looks good from the pictures. The decor is definitely vibrant in all of the locations.

Yeah this was a long fight for the owner and I'm glad he finally won. I think he fought a small well funded little group for 2.5 years.

Is this related to Habana Outpost? Legit query.

Yes. This will be a smaller version of Habana Outpost. Same owner.

I really hope they maintain authenticity.

BTW, have you (or anyone) been to Liborio lately?

Cafe Habana/Cuban Outpost same owner. Checked out the website. Looks like it has a Rum House vibe to it. They also seem to be very involved in the community with charity and non profits in the NYC area. I hope it to be a great replacement for the eyesore it is right now. Will be living a block from there soon. C'mon good happy hour...

This is our favorite restaurant when we're in NYC. We go to the original location in Nolita. They are known for their roasted corn on the cob, but everything is great. Also the Sunday brunch is great.

I've been to the one in the village/west village in NYC. Good authentic Cuban food and a good vibe. Prices were reasonable. They had a large courtyard with outdoor seating as well.

It's unconscionable the three years of hoops (and no doubt LOTS of palm greasing) these folks had to jump through to open this place on a lot that has been dark and vacant for like 40 years.
