We will have sides and what not but I am trying to not over or under buy. I think Sams sells them in 2 packs about 4-5 pounds a piece. TIA

For BBQ sandwiches, I presume? About 20 people per pork butt, so I'd get 10.

Is it going to be serve yourself or is someone going to be preparing plates? If it's serve yourself, I'd lean towards 6-8oz/person, but if you are going to be preparing plates for people, you can keep it closer to 4oz per person.

I'd probably get about 75lbs worth just to be safe

In that case, you'll have to get a bit technical. 8oz cooked is a good estimate...for men. You'll need to estimate how many men, women, and kids will be there and assign a portion to each. I've read where it's safe to assume 8oz cooked for men, 6oz cooked for women, and 4oz cooked for kids. You'll want to bump that up to about 10oz, 7.5oz, and 5oz uncooked, respectively.

So if you have 100 men, 50 women, and 50 kids:

(100*10/16) + (50*7.5/16) + (50*5/16) = about 100lbs uncooked

The 2 pack at Sam's weigh between 16-20 lbs. Current price in Metairie is $1.68/lb.

That's a good deal, I am in Shreveport so hopefully the Sams here has the same thing going. So reading all the responses I should get between 8 & 20
I'll probably get 12 Butts (6 packs at Sams) and if we have left overs I'll take it to one of the Homeless Shelters. Thanks for the responses
