Can a 2WD (car ) make it far enough down the access road to make the walk to the inlet area even remotely reasonable?

as in all the way down the beach to where the jetties are? I've seen cars out there before. . .

But you can absolutely get down to the beach and fish the surf without traveling to the eastern edge- just stay on the hard packed sand and don't go after it rains.

You can also catch reds up and down that stretch of gravel road leading to Elmers

You can easily make it to walking distance.
We got some crazy looks from locals last time when we drove the mini van out there.

Thanks for that tip. I want to bring the kids, so I'm not looking to catch bull reds.

Just don't get too greedy/lazy and try yo drive right up to the surf.

Wash your car very soon after. Salty sand can rust plastic.

I see cars out there all the time. Follow the tracks, stay on hard sand and if it feels soft, don't stop.

Just pray for no seaweed out there this year. Funny thing happened to me out there last year. I was sleeping in my Truck by the entrance waiting for the sun to come at about 3 am and a guy comes up walking from the direction of the gulf to my window and starts knocking on the window asking for directions. I drove off and went by the old bridge for another hour or two. Whe. I came back at 5 he was out there with about 5 cop cars.

Yes......stick to existing pathways once you exit onto beach and go fast until you get to hard packed sand at beach edge.

Yeah, don't stop if you start to get off the tracks of others.
