Overrated- Bastrop
Underrated- Oak Ridge

Bastrop's shittiness is underrated. I'd say it's the worst town in the whole state.

Oak Ridge is a great place to raise a family but there's literally nothing to do besides hunting and going to church.

Another underrated north LA town is Claiborne.

Overrated: Ascension Parish as a whole.

I agree with this. Pre-Katrina Ascension Parish was a completely different place, pretty much paradise. It was safe, house parties every weekend, tons of drinking, no traffic, ect. Now, it has all of the traffic problems of Baton Rouge, the nightlife of Alec, the dumbasses of LP, and the hoodlums of :insert small majority black river town here:

I alway think it's funny when people list positive qualities of a city and one of the top things is that it close to cities that have more to offer

That's easy. Some cities, like New Orleans, are really fun places to visit, but can be difficult places to live. Thus, living in a place that gives one easy access to the city when they want it, but allows one to avoid the pitfalls of living there can be a desirable quality.

For example: if someone loves Saints games, hitting Tips every now and then, and eating at Commander's New Orleans is a great place to visit. If they hate potholes, living in close quarters to other people, street parking, bad public schools, and gang violence, then maybe New Orleans isn't the best place to live. In that case, a location that is safe, has good public schools, has more space between homes, AND is close enough to still do the things you like, it's a pretty big advantage, especially if you don't have to commute to the city every day. At that point, it just becomes a massive waste of time.

Underrated: Lafayette

Overrated: covington, mandeville, Madisonville (I've lived there and was very happy when I moved) traffic sucks and too many people acting like they have money, when they don't.

I agree AP has gone down drastically post Katrina. I've always liked BR more, but the past few times I've been to AP recently, it has been awful. And the hoodlums I see everywhere are white trash ghetto wannabes.
