Babyback bitch, crybaby, etc.

Since BG has been out, CP3 has been playing like the CP3 of old.

11 games (3 losses so far)
92/174 fg (52.87%)
13/39 3pt (33.33%)
37/41 ft (90.24%)

50 rebounds (4.54RPG)
134 assists (12.18APG)
29 turnovers (2.64TOV)
3 blocks (0.27BPG)
16 steals (1.45SPG)
234 points (21.27PPG)

21.3/4.5/12.2 on 53/33/90 shooting
Unreal.

Those numbers are only including half of the portland game so far as well.

He has been slightly underrated for a long, long time.

Considering those numbers along with him being one of the best perimeter defenders in the league (the best according to player tracking data) I think he should be third in MVP voting.

His lack of playoff success has seriously hurt his rep

2008 was his best shot for a title

I wouldn't go that far, but he is quietly having a great season and is still one of the better PGs in the league.

Now?

He always has been.

His defense is way underrated as well, he's elite level this season.

He's an all time great point guard up there with the best of the best, on the very shortlist.

Definitely. I'm as guilty of it as anyone else.

Hell if Blake comes back the Clips could actually do some real damage in the playoffs. They're definitely under the radar right now with everything else going on in the West.

The thing is, Pauls teams have never done damage in the playoffs, even with a healthy Griffin. That's why he is overlooked. You gonna tell me that the best PG or second best to ever play the game hasn't even lead his team out of the second round of the playoffs? I call BS.

Maybe they don't do well with expectations. Now no one thinks they'll do anything, might work better for the team's psyche.

Yes, that is correct, he's at worst, the 2nd best PG to every play IMO.

Team stats, plus basically 7 wasted years, you can't simply discount that. If his team happens to get to the WCF or Finals this season, that doesn't make him any better than he already is.

I'm not sure why we draw these arbitrary lines here and there.

Are you saying that his years in New Orleans were wasted years?

He got closer to the finals with NOLA than he has with LAC.

From the perspective of you have to win titles or come close to be great, absolutely. I don't agree with that perspective, though.

Put it this way, we're judging all time best PGs, Magic is obviously #1, but if you're going to compare Paul to Magic using team accomplishments, it's not exactly fair to do looking around at Paul's Hornets teammates his 1st 7 years compared to what Magic had around him, wouldn't you agree?

Exactly. Hard to take him seriously until he leads his team to success in the playoffs.

So why aren't his last two seasons with the Clippers wasted?

These teams are more talented than any of his Hornets teams, even the 2nd round team.

Pretty sure the vast majority of folks would agree with that.

ETA: Griffin was hurt for one of those playoff runs, that's kind of a big deal.

Yeah I can look past the lack of rings for a lot of guys, but never getting past the 2nd round especially w/the talent he has along side him in LA just knocks him down a peg for me.
