Yeah I can look past the lack of rings for a lot of guys, but never getting past the 2nd round especially w/the talent he has along side him in LA just knocks him down a peg for me.
Paul has averaged 20/9/5 with 2.6 steals 47%/40%/84% shooting in his 3 LAC playoff runs.

Had he played horribly but won a couple of extra rounds, would you then put him a notch above where you're putting him now? Not sure how that works or makes sense logically.

These teams are more talented than any of his Hornets teams, even the 2nd round team.

Wouldn't the Clippers years be even MORE wasted then?

He's the best PG in the game for me right now, I just think in the grand scheme of all time greats it hurts him.

No...but again, it's not the perspective I'm taking, i'm arguing from the perspective Boom took.

If titles or how close you come to a title matter, IMO, The Clipper years should matter MORE and be more of a telling factor that he can't get it done in the playoffs, since the teams were better. AGAIN, I don't agree with that take, but if you count the rings, I'd think that to be fairly logical.

I think I just errored by using the term "wasted" and my actual point is being missed.

Pauls teams have never done damage in the playoffs, even with a healthy Griffin. That's why he is overlooked. You gonna tell me that the best PG or second best to ever play the game hasn't even lead his team out of the second round of the playoffs? I call BS

ok, so what about James Harden?

Fair enough. I can concede on "it hurts him" as long as it's not taken out too far.

When folks start saying they'd take Tony Parker(who i think it's great fwiw) over Paul, that's when I get eternally frustrated, because that's just ridiculous.

And why the frick would two twins have a son each that look exactly alike?

Cliff Paul stole Chris' second son and is raising him as his own.

Yeah I hate the rings or bust arguments for the most part.

I get it for LeBron because the comparison is MJ, but for 95% of other players it shouldn't apply because of guys like MJ and LeBron.

If no one has noticed it is really fricking hard to win a title in the NBA, especially when there are guys like them in the league.

Steph is like my favorite non-Grizz player in the league, but I would still take CP3 over him.

No one cares about defense!!!

Paul is closer to being as good as Curry offensively than Curry is to Paul defensively.

Paul is elite level defensively this season, that's going largely unnoticed...or again, people just don't care about the defensive stuff that doesnt show up in our normal morning boxscores.

Most overlooked thing when discussing NBA guards. People always seem to notice it when talking about bigs, but for some reason it gets largely ignored when talking about guards.

Didn't the Clips get absolutely screwed on that play?

I'm the biggest Paul fan on this board possibly(though I still think I view him fairly logically) but screwed or not, he definitely choked that final minute away.

Certainly not one of his finer moments.

Oh yeah I was mainly talking about the end of the play.

IIRC the ball should've been out on Reggie Jackson, but they used some obscure rule to say it was out on the Clippers.

Who is calling Harden an ALL TIME great right now? No one. FYI Harden lead OKC to finals in a series win over the Spurs.

We aren't even talking about WINNING the finals, we are talking about winning a 2nd round series. Huge difference.

He did? In 2012?

He averaged 18/5/3 on 49% shooting, definitely solid.

Durant averaged 30/7/5 on 53% shooting, so I'm not sure how that equates to Harden leading OKC to a series win.
