I know Paul Harvey (one of the GOAT radio personalities IMO) is dead. But I google searched and nothing came up. Anybody know if they've shut it down completely?

Haven't heard it in 15yrs

Too bad this thread won't make it to two pages because it would be cool for someone to post "page 2" for the last post of page 1.

His son picked it up shortly after his death, but I do not know how long that lasted. If you can't find anything on wiki or the interweb, call a radio station. Let the OT know what you find.

I wish Paul Harvey were alive to do "Serial". I imagine his voice saying "But what about the Nisha call?"

You mean is his catch phrase still being used by anyone? I dont think so. Or was there a show titled 'the rest of the story'?

From Wiki:
quote:
After the elder Harvey's death on February 28, 2009, ABC radio host Doug Limerick was chosen as the show's new host.[1] The Rest of the Story was canceled after three weeks with Limerick as host.

Heard it with the replacement. Not the same. Which is obvious by the cancellation after three weeks. Paul Harvey was a story telling mf'er.
ETA-wouldn't mind hearing Morgan Freeman give it a try. Or for a real change of pace, Samuel Mf'ing Jackson.

Heck, some station should simply run the old shows again.

Yeah, he had "Paul Harvey News and Comment" which usually ran at noon.
Then, TROTS ran in afternoon drive.
Stations could run them anytime, but that was most common.

While I agree with you that they have great voices...those two are WAYYYYYY too political for that. What Paul Harvey did was just give life advice. He didn't choose sides or any of the political bullshite.

From his wiki page:
"He railed against welfare cheats and defended the death penalty. He worried about the national debt, big government, bureaucrats who lacked common sense, permissive parents, leftist radicals and America succumbing to moral decay. He championed rugged individualism, love of God and country, and the fundamental decency of ordinary people."

I think the last one was, "If I were the devil"?

Wow, good stuff. Listen from 4:00 to 4:35 if it's TLDL.

Man that was always my favorite part of listening to the radio when I was a kid. I loved me some Paul Harvey!

By the time daddy Paul died, it was only on a few country music stations that I knew of...not sure who airs it now...
