This thread has been way more through than I expected. It's a damn good run down of Lafayette. The only food I can think of that hasn't been covered, is who had the best meat pies? Those natchitoches style meat pies are incredible
chops used to have decent meat pies, but they were small bite sized, not large like in natchitoches. I know they had a fire there and I havent went there in years... they may not have opened back up.

Seems like I've seen some in little grocery store/convenience stores around the Port of Iberia. Couldn't say if they are good meat pies.

The old Ray's couple had a place out on Sunset Highway. They retired and got bored, so they opened it. Not sure if still open.
Yeah it's still open. His son runs it. They have very good sausage and I think the boudin balls with cheese are better than billys. I grew up eating rays so I am probably biased but I like their boudin better than anyone else's.
Billys is killing it though. Dude is making serious money. He has to be making millions as busy as all of his stores are.

Seems that today, 90% of the meat pies sold today are made by a factory in Coushatta and this goes for Natchitoches as well except for Lysones

Just looked at the menu. It looks ridiculous. I've gotta make a trip out - so many good new places it seems.
If you go out there on a weekend during brunch time, prepare to wait. It's pretty packed. I've been during the week though while I was downtown for jury duty and hardly anyone in there.

Don't you mean most LSU 'fans' have castration anxiety? Try to come up with something new and fresh instead of something you heard from a drunk frat brother years ago

Even after they seat you, you will still wait. I recall my last time there being good, but I remember being their forever

I bet this pro-Lafayette thread is rustling all your little Opelousas jimmies.

being there forever
This is a common refrain about French Press lately.

Agreed - the pepper jack boudin balls are nothing short of phenomenal. We'll sometimes swing through Crotch Springs on our way to visit family and get some. Don's in Carencro is what I was brought up on though and is still my favorite.
Like I said before though, selection in that area is so much better than BR. Ronnie's in BR is the only thing that even comes somewhat close.

You seem to be the one that has his Jimmies rusted. Lafayette has a lot of good restaurants. Outside of that it is a tapout infested shite hole with horrible traffic filled with roided up douchebags that are overly sensitive.

was 32 I would live in River Ranch and chase Lafayette's outstanding Milf at the Fresh Market or Whole Foods.
I wouldn't think most 32 years olds could buy a house in river ranch

If you go thru opelousas definitely give rays on hwy 182 a shot. you also wont have to deal with the bull dykes that have seemingly taken over billy's in krotz springs.

They have rentals, don't they?
Posted on 2/26/15 at 8:09 pm to glassman

bull dykes at Billys
Not implausible based on what I saw last week.

yeah, that last sentence really conveys how calm your jimmies are right now.
Posted on 2/26/15 at 8:11 pm to yellowfin
their rentals are pretty affordable, I know people who lived there. 700-1000 or so.

I can only guess that your from Opelousas. The reason has a traffic problem is because of all the assholes from the Podunk towns like Opelousas that has no jobs, no center of education, no medical centers, no cultural entertainment, etc. but has plenty of douchebags that come to Lafayette to get arrested because they haven't been to a 'big' city much. Sounds familiar?
