Why Wuerffel so low and Manning so high?

I'm sure this question will get me murdered by the board, but how good was Tommie Frazier as a QB? He played before I watched college football so I never saw him play outside of watching some highlights of him, so I'm admittedly somewhat ignorant on him. But looking at his stats he averaged 880 yards passing and 489 yards rushing in his 4 years. I know those Nebraska teams were dominant but his individual stats seem fairly pedestrian. Did he have injury problems or something or are people just remembering him as the QB of a dynasty?

He was arguably the best option QB in history.

I think he was second best, if Jamelle Hollieway doesn't blow his knee out he would have been better.

Darien Hagan was as good as Frazier but only started 2 years. Hagan was QB for the 90 Colorado nc team. He could throw with both hands 50 yards.

He's referring to Dave Klingler, who set all kinds of records after Ware left.

Mike Vick as a freshman in '99 single-handedly dragging that Va-Tech squad to the Nat'l Title game was probably the most incredible non-Tommie Frazier thing I saw in CFB in the '90s. Just awesome.

I completely agree with you. Michael Vick absolutely deserves to be on the list ahead of Weinke and Ward who both benefited tremendously from Florida State's offensive system.

Plus Weinke's best season came in 2000. He didn't even play in the '99 Fiesta Bowl.

Especially since the same UT team finally beat us and won the national title as soon as Chokeboy graduated.

He was still the title game MVP in a losing effort. That should tell you something.

Anyone that thinks Chris Weinkr or Danny Wuerrful were ever, at any point in their life, a better football player than Peyton Manning is certifiable.

you can make an argument for Danny. He led the NCAA in TD passes in back to back years. Won a Heisman and a national title. His resume trumps Peyton's. He's 12th all time in NCAA history in TD passes.

now was he a better player? debatable. But it can be argued.

Completely forgot about him. Yeah, Steve McNair has to be at least #2 on the list if not #1. He averaged 527 yards per game his senior year. Even if it was against Division 1-A competition, his numbers were absolutely insane.

I saw that fact. Chuck Howley accomplished that feat as well. Doesn't make him a hall of famer or an all time great player. I'm sure Frazier was great and I just didn't witness it, but this point doesn't sell me

Going by college careers and college stats? 114 passing TD's to 89, finished with the highest QB rating ever at the time, won 4 SEC titles, a national title, Heisman, etc. Wuerffel was the better college QB.
