Manning is getting WAY too much love in this thread. Anyone who thinks he's the best QB of the 90s is crazy. He was the best prospect but not a chance the best college QB.

Don't know if he should be in The Top 5 for the 90's, but David Klingler played his Jr. and Sr. years in '90 and '91.
54 TD passes in 11 games in '90.

They went to the Fiesta Bowl his first year because of him. It was also what got him in the early Heisman talk.
The sad part is if he was somewhat smart they could have ran the real K State offense, but they had to dumb it down for him.

He really wasn't that good his first year. Completed less than 50 percent of his passes, 13 TDs and 8 INTs and ran for like 500 yards. Their defense and Snyder's magic carried them

The second half of the year is when he exploded his Junior year. As they were still trying to dumb down the offense

like i said, he only had 1 remarkable year. That is not incorrect. Certainly not a good enough body of work to be on this list

One could make an argument that Hamilton was robbed as well. He finished 2nd (ahead of Vick) to Ron Dayne (who won it as more of a career award). I have a hard time giving Wisconsin RB's credit for their yardage total given the system they ran. He had a fantastic year though (2000 yds, 20 tds).
Hamilton (along with Friedgen) basically revitalized the Georgia Tech program from pure shite to top 10 status in his career.
He led GT's offense toe-to-toe with FSU's 99 team, on the road. We scored the most points on that FSU defense easily (and AT FSU). Next closest team was VT in the championship game with Vick at 29 points.
I don't think Joe is top 5. Hard to argue with the others mentioned in this thread. But his senior year stats:
3060 yds passing (66% completion), 29 td, 11 int.
734 yds rushing, 6 td.
His problem is that he really struggled his freshman year, and while he played well as a sophomore and junior, he didn't put up fantastic stats.
GT's defense was horrendous in 99 (it was decent in 98 and turned the ball over a lot which is why they won 10 games in an 11 game season plus bowl game).

What did Manning win in college?
my point was that neither peyton or hamilton won anything in college, but if you were gonna put one guy with no accolades on the list, everyone is choosing peyton.

I know his career was split between the late '90s and early 2000s and there is already a Cornhusker QB over him but I remember some of the greatness of Eric Crouch.

I cant believe Kerry Collins isn't getting much love. One of the underrated QBs of the generation both college and pro. Threw a beautiful football

That Miami defensive front seven was all kinds of beastly. Warren Sapp and Ray Lewis. Enough said. Tommie Frazier had several key runs in the 4th quarter when the score was 17-9 (Miami lead) and when the score was tied up at 17-17. That was also the worst game of his three NCG appearances and it makes sense seeing how he hadn't played since mid-September. His Orange Bowl game against FSU as a sophomore was pretty damn impressive. He was the MVP of the game despite his team losing. His performance against Florida in his final game as a Husker needs no introduction.
