With this mild winter on the coast, how will it affect the spawn and the transition down south? Haven't trout fished in probably 2 months and don't care much for cold weather fishing after Thanksgiving. I'm thinking some time mid April the speck fishing will pick back up in the big bays and I can get back to it.

There are always fish in the mid bays--just have to have the weather and structure on which to fish them.

Sure there are ones around all year but I'm talking the trigger of mass transition that usually happens after Easter.

Bourg, whenever you ready me you and dss can make a trip, just got the boat ready with new batteries, also adding a new GPS unit. I would think with the mild winter the spring months will be very good. I'm ready for my summer spots though

I have as well, but it's just a busy time of year for me and I'd rather duck hunt those late season cold fronts. Fishing to me is a warm breeze and a cold beer, none of which exists in January.

I fish dularge some but mainly fish fourchon and leeville. Also some around the island. We will have to get together. I didn't fish dularge like I usually do due to some damn good duck hunts in January. Just get my number from dss and we can get a trip together

We caught our best trout last year in March, in the bay.

Not enough good days, but we'll be trying hard in March if the weather allows.

I'm off pretty much every Friday. Need to talk to you about duck hunting next year. Going to have a pretty solid place and going to need some guns

I don't know if I want to be in the hunting or fishing side of this thread.

I guess I'll I'll take both?

Whodat has some spots for fish.

I'll leave it at that!

I'm guessing they will be in the interior lakes and bays by mid march.

We have had some pretty good trips wading flats on the North shore of East Bay here in Texas this time of year. When that sun starts warming that dark bottom of those flats, the trout seem to get active but it will turn off in a heartbeat right after a cold front hits. It is usually May before the spawn gets going good.
