Not necessarily, most (if not near all plans) have a max out of pocket that cap it between 5K and 25K until you reach a million dollars or so.

I highly doubt he had an insurance plan that didn't have a max out of pocket.

I'm not sure why or how it would be outside of his coverage. Unless he had a plan that just had a very low max payout...lowest I've seen is 100K.

You are still going to deal with copay %'s and potentially pretty high out of pocket maximum's in addition to some stuff not being covered by instance

EDIT- If they have a max of 1 million, they may have well exceeded it believe it or not. I know the dude has been there a while, and those are the most expensive hotel rooms on the face of the planet, not to mention all the treatments and surgeries.

Exactly....you can bet your arse it's well north of a million bucks. He said on the radio the other day that he's been in the hospital for 200 days. Hospital stay and care in the NICU for over 200 days is probably closer to 1.5 mill, maybe more. Insurance probably covers 80% of that, which leaves them with a 300k bill. Either way, he ain't rich doing the radio biz.

Lifetime maximums are typically five million but Obamacare did away with those.

I'd imagine 6.5 months in NICU with multiple surgeries is 1-2 million easy... Then you factor 2 houses, living expenses, etc.

Would destroy most families. Luckily he has a good network. I'm sure he will pay it forward, something like this changes your life and he will want to help others after everything settles down. I can't imagine.

Every plan has those. Once you hit you the max OOP then that's it, insurance pays 100% thereafter.

Also, as was stated earlier, obamacare did away with lifetime maxes. With that being said, the treatment he was getting may not have been covered by insurance in the first place.
