Obviously the Drew Moscona story has completely taken over Baton Rouge. I think it is great to see so many people stepping up to help. However, I do have a question…where does all of the monies raised actually go? Do they go to help the Moscona family pay Drew’s medical bills or is there a foundation/charity to help ALL kids with similar complications to those of Drew’s?

I THINK it's to help with Drew's complications.

I believe they first go to:

quote:

help the Moscona family pay Drew’s medical bills

And when little Scone man comes home and all bills are paid for, the excess will go to

quote:

a foundation/charity to help ALL kids with similar complications to those of Drew’s

i'm out of the BR loop and have asked a few people on the DL but they had no response, so frick it i'll ask here

did scone man not have insurance, or was this treatment outside of his insurance coverage?

I believe a lot of these procedures were "experimental" and/or "high risk" of sorts and outside of what insurance covers.

i have no clue but i would think that some of the procedures you would want to try to see would help might not be covered under normal insurance.

Again i have no clue though.

I was wondering the same thing.

Is it worth it to pick up some super health insurance for when planning on having kids?

well if his coverage was say 80/20 and the total bill is $700,000... Scone owes $140k...

i mean this is an example of a 1 min a million bad luck shot. if i was trying to have a kid i'd be sure my pregnancy/maternity coverage was baller, though. my current insurance is pretty badass (no kids on the horizon though)

But is it really? Don't complications happen all the time?

I doubt my insurance is badass but I never have to use it. No kids on horizon either but don't want to have some situation like this wreck me either.

get a high deductible plan that covers 100% after the deductible. save up the deductible and create a money market account for that amount

pay for health care as you go knowing that if shite hits the fan, you are covered

As I understand it, local talk radio doesn't pay shite so why would we assume the insurance is good?
